Which Monkey Island titles do YOU own?

I managed to find a copy of Curse of Monkey Island in a carpet and furniture store in Iowa. How lucky is that?

As for Escape From Monkey Island, I believe I picked it up in Wal-Mart back when it was still sold there.

And of course I pre-ordered Tales of Monkey Island. I'll go ahead add it to the poll too.

I still need to find copies of Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: Lechuck's Revenge though. :(

Um... do we have a thread for this? I'm not sure, it's all getting a bit confusing. I think we have played, completed, favourite, ...not sure about owned though.

Oh well, moving away from that... add a poll!

Edit: And I see you've done just that.
  • edited June 2009
Hehe, there's going to be every poll category under the sun about these 4/5 games. I'm a bit tired of seeing the same 4 game names in each one. I think there's like four of them now. There's one for who has played which MI games, who has beaten which MI games, and the favourite one.

Anyway, I have all the first four. I will have TMI in.....6-8 days :"(.

Currently, I officially own Curse of Monkey Island and Escape from Monkey Island. Escape was given to me as a Christmas present in 2000, and was (some may say, sadly) my first experience with the series. In late 2005, I ordered Curse of Monkey Island through the LucasArts Store, and had a heck of a time getting it shipped, but when it did, they accidentally sent me two copies. I never did complain about it, though. My own personal theory is that they were trying to quickly unload their back catalog of adventure games.

I do not own Secret of Monkey Island or Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, but I plan to purchase them as soon as the opportunity presents itself. I played them both in 2001, and they were a lot of fun.

Oh, and I pre-ordered Tales of Monkey Island on June 1st.

Isn't there already a thread for this?

    Edit: Yup! http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8719
  • edited June 2009
I had an inkling there was! But I thought I was just being silly and getting confused.

Hm... could the two threads (and their respective votes) be merged?

He means he can pre-order them then I think.

Anyway, I apologize. I looked around but didn't find that topic, so I thought no one had made one yet.

I own: None! That's why I'm buying the new remake.
  • edited June 2009
    All.

To anyone who has missed out on the first two Monkey Island games, download ScummVM, and track down copies of those games at all costs. MI2 is, for instance, one of the greatest examples of adventure game design and execution in existence. It simply should not be missed by fans of point&click adventures.

I own (and have completed several times) all four previous titles and now I have pre-ordered Tales and I also plan buying remake of the first game.

LeChuck's Revenge is my favourite and Escape is the one which I like least. I also loved the first game. Curse is otherwise good game, but it's story suffers a bit, because it's hard to write good sequel which continues plot from the ending of LeChuck's Revenge. Whole Carnival of the Damned thing was bit idiotic IMO, but it's nothing compared to Monkey Kombat and Jambalaya Island.

I believe that no matter what Tales will be much better than Escape.

    OMG!!!!

I haven't got many of my original boxes left due to various house moves but I still have the original (if a bit squashed) boxes for SMI & MI2. Also have the White Label double pack of SMI & MI2 and the normal releases of CMI & EMI.

Completely envious. I am amazed that you have managed to keep them in such good condition as well. That collection must be worth an utter fortune.

::sigh:: I only own Curse Of Monkey Island. Sold Escape and lost Secret and Lechuck's Revenge when I moved. :(

I have all 4 MI games, still play them to this day and still they make me laugh and are the best games ever. MI 2 is my personal favourite that just had a fantastic story and in terms of visual at that time it was amazing and still is. I hope for a remake of that one too as well with the MI remake.

I've pre-ordered TOMI and will get remake (properly on 360) to add even more Monkey Madness to the collection.

I still have the game boxes for Monkey Island 2, Curse of Monkey Island (classics white-border box version which also came with the Monkey Island Madness CD), and Escape From Monkey Island (also white-border version). The only box I don't have is Monkey Island 1. Because when my dad originally bought it he got it at a bargain price in a small computer store with only the game and the manual shrinkwrapped together :(. A shame as SMI's box has the best looking artwork.
  • edited June 2009
Yeah, that sucks. SMI has fantastic box art, in fact that's pretty much the only reason I bought it way back when :D I had no idea what the game was.
  • edited June 2009
I bought Curse, when it came out, same with Escape. Pre-ordered Tales, will buy Special Edition of Secret. Hopefully they will do Revenge too. Never had Secret or Revenge.

I have the collection that was released with 3, so bundles the first three games..
    I also own Escape.
Aaand I have the 7 disk lucasarts collection that contains Secret (along with Loom and Zak Mckraken etc etc)

I will of course be preordering the new games as well... and telltale, bring on the merchandise!

Unfortunately I don't have original boxes, my father threw them out when we emigrated all those years ago.

I still have my copy of Curse (Favorite MI game) and the last one (Ugh) as well as that Monkey Island Maddness CD as well..And finally the VGA version of the first MI on CD. I heart Monkey Island. :)

I started with the original 16 color MI. (Strictly speaking, I really started with the pre-release demo that came in a box of floppies.) When the 16 color version would not run on a Pentium, and the patch was good only for the 256 color version, LA swapped my original disks for the 256 color ones. I thought that was amazing - free tech support and upgrade 8 years after I bought a program. LA rules!

I haunted the software store for MI2 when it was announced. All of the others I pre-ordered when announced. When CMI was released in the US, I FedExed a second copy to a friend in a country where the release was to be six months later... I'm sure Guybrush would approve of the smuggling.

    Pre-ordered Tales last night.

I played the first two on my sons amiga and escape from monkey island on his ps.
We managed to buy a copy of curse of monkey island when we finally got round to buying a pc.
Now I'm waiting in anticipation for the tales of monkey island.
    So exciting.lol.

None. I've plundered them all from my friends. (I have pre-ordered tales though)

Had monkey island one on those big ass 5.25 floppies. Threw those out years ago. MI 2 I found on 3.5 floppies and tossed it about a month ago (they were in bad shape and not worthy of ebay plus I lost the code book and don't have a floppy drive). I loaned my CMI to my uncle years and years ago and I never saw it again. I didn't buy MI4. A friend of mine got it and I just played it at his place.

I still have my original hit the road disks, coloring book and box :)
Again no floppy drive to play it though.....
