Cannot download Episodes 2-5 - "Connection lost while downloading data"
Hi there,
I just bought the season pass as an in-app purchase. For some reason I cannot download any of the Episodes.
The message that gets displayed says:
"Connection lost while downloading data. Please ensure you have a working internet ..."
I have a Nexus 7 with Android 5.0
I have restarted the tablet multiple times, have 3GB free space and my connection is pretty good as well.
I even have monitored the network traffic and i could'nt even see any request going out from the app. Everything else on my tablet can connect fine to the internet.
I also tried completely re-installing the app.
Can you give me any hints, what I can do?
I am currently living in Ecuador. Could that be an issue?
Thanks in advance

I apologize for the inconvenience. If you are still unable to download the episodes, please also try turning your device off, and then once you turn it on, make sure the only application you open is The Walking Dead so that all of the device's processing power is going towards the episode, and make sure you are connected to a WiFi network. If you are still unable to download the episodes, please also try connecting to a different WiFi network, and see if that connection is stronger with our servers.
Hello, thanks for your reply,
I tried the things you were suggesting, still no download possible. I also upgraded to Android 5.02.
As I was saying: I monitored all network traffic going in/out of the tablet. And the game does not even send out a request. Nothing.
I have the same problem with TWOU. Could it be an issue with Android 5?
Can you please clarify if you have the application downloaded and installed to your internal storage/memory, or to an external SD card?
In having the w exact same problem and the game is installed on internal card. Should work but doesn't, no matter what I try. Thanks for any help.
Can you please clarify what Android device in particular you are using to play the game? Also, please make sure that you are connected to a strong WiFi network connection. You can also try connecting to a different WiFi network, and see if that connection is stronger with our servers, and allows you to download the episode successfully.
I have the same problem here...
The episodes WONT download and won't move on 0%
I don't have problems with my Connection because I can even manage to post in this forum.
Unit: SM-T211
Android: 4.4.2
I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately it appears that your Android device's GPU does not meet the minimum system requirements to successfully run the game. Where we require a minimum of a PowerVR SGX544 GPU or equivalent, your current device uses a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This can cause performance/application issues such as these. I recommend either playing on a device that is above the minimum system requirements, or contacting Google Play Support for any inquiries regarding refunds, or refund requests.
Hi!
I am experiencing the same thing; since completing Episode 1, I have bought the season pass to continue the episodes. However, having bought them and with the buttons changed from Buy to Get, I have the message that "Connection lost while downloading data...." whenever I select any episode to download.
I'm using a Kindle Fire HD 7" 16gb (2012) unit with the latest software version (7.5.1).
I have tried turning off and restarting, forcing closed all the apps (that it lets me) before restarting, and leaving it off for 5 mins to clear the cache. My wifi is connected and strong as I'm right by the router with other devices connected and running fine. I've tried pressing the Get button with the Wifi enabled and it takes a fraction of time longer than when I try with the Wifi disabled, which suggests that it is trying to do something on the network and failing. I have 9 gigs available on my device's internal storage.
My thoughts are at this point that there is either a problem with the software or my Kindle is not powerful enough to be able to run the new episodes (although it ran episode 1 with no discernible lag or crashes).
If it is problem 1, is there an update or alternative method of getting the episode content onto my kindle without using the original app?
If it is problem 2, I would be disappointed that this wasn't specified before I bought the additional content and would need to seek a refund.
Happy to help solve the problem, but a little frustrated that there seems nothing I can do to get this to work - I was enjoying the game! Would this be a problem with Season 2 and Game of Thrones also?
Thanks,
Chris
My apologies, if you have not tried yet, I recommend try force closing all apps running in the background then turning your device off, and leave it off for about 5-10 minutes to allow the devices cache to clear. Then turn the device back on, and turn the WiFi setting to Off. Then reset your wireless internet access point (router/modem) so that you have the strongest connection possible, and turn the WiFi setting on your device back to On, and wait until you have connected before starting ONLY the Walking Dead game app, and you should be able to successfully download the episode. If you still have any issues downloading it, please also try connecting to a secondary WiFi network, and see if that connection is stronger with our servers, and allows you to download the episode.
The Walking Dead: Season Two, and Game of Thrones have slightly higher minimum system requirements in order to run the game. I recommend making sure they meet the minimum specs before purchasing the game app to ensure that your device is able to run them.
EDIT: Can you please clarify if you are able to download Episodes 3-5 successfully?
Hi Mike,
I tried your suggestions yesterday evening, but still had problems after rebooting the router, closing applications (which runs out to be like herding cats - they keep coming back!) shutting down for 10 mins and firing up TWD on it's own.
However, just as I was going to bed, I tried it a final time and amazingly it worked! This was around 11pm UK time, without doing a fresh switch off and with apps still running in the background. Quite a good speed too.
Not sure what this actually means, but it suggests that the issue is bandwidth from your servers to my router; there was nothing altered 'in my house' that could have affected the download apart from simply the time of day... Suffice to say, I've downloaded all episodes while the getting was good; yet to try running them, but pleased that they have downloaded.
Not sure how robust this solution is, but trying a different time of the day worked for me - 11pm for the UK specifically. Whether it's my cable company or the download servers, I couldn't say.
Anyway, thanks for the response!
You're welcome, I hope that you are now able to enjoy the game!
