season 2 disc constantly freezing and hitching on xbox 360

The disc version is virtually unplayable on my Xbox 360. It constantly lags, hitches, and freezes. It will eventually unfreeze, but it occurs every minute or two and will freeze for several minutes sometimes. I know this was an issue for season 1 for people without an internal hard drive and redemptions codes to download the episodes were provided for free. Is the the case with season two as well?

    Please note that on the game case for The Walking Dead: Season Two, there is an icon on the front cover that states a hard drive is required to play the game. Acquiring and installing an internal hard disk drive compatible with your Xbox360 4GB console will resolve this issue (a hard disk drive connected via your Xbox 360’s USB port will NOT provide a remedy).
