WalkingDead101.exe crash
I have never been able to get the game to start. It crashes every time. I've tried the following fixes:
Verify cache mode
Redownload and install the game
Steam in compatibility mode for Vista
WalkingDead101.exe in compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
Run as administrator
Turned off firewall
Turned off Network connectivity after/before connecting to steam
Made sure Steam_appid.txt was there with the proper contents
Added dinput8.dll to game directory
Any combination of the above
Fresh install of Windows 8.1 x64 on Intel Core i7 4790. XFX R9-270X AMD Graphics card. 16GB DDR3 2400Mhz RAM. ASRock Z97 Xtreme6 mobo. No gamepad is attached.

Please try renaming the prefs.prop file in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
to prefs.prop.bak to disable it, then start the game, and see if you are then able to play successfully. If your issue persists, please make sure that you have deleted the dinput8.dll file from the game's file directory, as that will cause crashing on Windows 8.1.
Below are a few more possible solutions:
1) Verify your cache if you purchased through Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335)
2) Run the game in compatibility mode (We recommend Windows 98/ME)
3) Make sure that the Steam application is not set to a compatibility mode (right click on steam and click properties, then check compatibility, and make sure that it is not checked to play in a different OS)
4) Disable Steam Overlay, if you purchased through Steam (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3168263)
5) Opt out of the Steam Beta, if you purchased through Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/828934424165581080/)
I did all of those things and none of them worked.
Please make sure that your The Walking Dead game is set to 'Always keep this game up to date'. To do this, please right click on the game from within your Steam Library and go to Properties. Once in the Properties window, navigate to the Updates tab, and under the Automatic Updates section make sure that the drop down bar is set to Always keep this game up to date.
After you set the game to always update, please close down the Steam Client completely. (Please also make sure to close it if it is still open in the hidden icons in the bottom right of the screen when you click the upward facing arrow. If it is, please right click the Steam icon and click Exit.)
Once Steam is closed, please reopen it, and you should receive any of the necessary updates for The Walking Dead to work.
You can also try changing the download region from which your update is coming from. To do this, please click View on the top left of the Steam window, and click Settings from the drop down menu. Once the Settings window is open, click on the Downloads tab, and under the Download Region section, try switching to a different region using the drop down menu. Then close the Settings window, and restart Steam before attempting the update again.
That still didn't work.
Can you please clarify if your computer's graphics card's drivers are updated to the latest version? If not, does updating them to the latest version resolve the issue? Also, if they are updated to the latest version, we have had reports from players on your specific graphics card experiencing graphical issues with some of our games. Could you please also try downgrading your graphics card's drivers to the previous version, and see if that resolves your issue?
