I tried so hard NOT to stand up for Cotter

Was it even possible to avoid the fight? Cotter is a snake.. and I feel that I was forced to stand up for him. Was he caught with the knife for anyone?

    Well, it's definitely possible to not stand up for Cotter. I didn't do it in my playthrough, but the end choice percentages did say that some players didn't stand up for him, so it must have been a choice.

    I didn't see an option to not stand up for him either. Maybe if you initially said "Cotter has the knife"? From what I remember, 95.7% of players stood up for him, and I'm assuming some (like you), didn't see another way.
