Can't solve one scene

in Game Of Thrones

I allways die in this scene. I understand I am supposed to press "a" but I don't have chance to do so, cause the other guy stabs me before I get the option to press the key. Does anybody else have this problem? Maybe a bug?

    You have to time the square that closes in on the A when it covers it or Outlines I guess, then press A

    nah, doesn't work. I only got through this with a little trick. If I pause the game in the right moment the square appears and i can get through. Funnily I found out after I made this screenshot.
