The game deleted my original save file and wont make a new one

My save file for Season 1 is gone and I don't know why. At first I thought I might have deleted it one day and just forgotten. Not sure why I would but I doubted it would disappear on it's own. But now I know something is going wrong, especially since (at first) the DLC save was intact.

I just finished Season 2 yesterday and a few days before that, I finished 400 Days after not playing it for a long time. I kinda forgot I hadn't finished it yet. So anyway, I know it at least had my save for the DLC, because when I went into it I only had 2 stories left, so I assume the save from the rest of the game was there as well. Although I'm pretty sure that I never got the option to pick from a save file before finishing the DLC.

Today I decided to go back to replay Season 1 and the option to select a save file definitely wasn't there, no doubt about it. But for some reason, it was there when I backed out of choosing which episode to start from (I had to redownload 3 - 5 and choosing "get" wasn't doing anything at all for some reason). Then I saw there was no save anymore, just 3 blank save slots. But since I was planning on playing it through again and (it seems) my choices in Season 1 did carry over to Season 2 for my first play through of that, I didn't really mind too much. So I started a new game. Eventually, while still in episode 1, I died pressing RT instead of A or down, since I was used to Season 2's controls. I was taken back to the main menu and... it didnt save. It actually gave me the option to choose a file to save on when going into it this time. But once again, they were all blank.

So the game seems to have erased my save file all by itself and now refuses to make a new one. Oh and I tried 400 Days again and it asked me if I wanted to generate choices for skipped episodes, I thought that was odd but I agreed to it and was taken straight to the point where Tavia tries to get everyone to join her. So... that was weird. It doesn't remember that I've played through them all before but puts me at the end anyway. Shouldn't it just start over, as if I'd never played it before? But the DLC doesn't bother me too much anyway, since it really makes no difference whatsoever seeing as though Bonnie is the only character from it that actually matters and she's in Season 2 no matter what.

Is there anything that can be done about all this?

UPDATE: My original save file has randomly returned but since it randomly disappeared once already, I'm not confident that it's going to stay, so this is still an issue.

UPDATE 2: I chose episode 1 and it was at the end of it as expected and now it seems to have erased everything from later episodes too. I thought playing it, just to test it out, would only make me have to redo that episode and being at the end of the ep wouldnt really matter because the big choices had already been made. I did not expect it to erase every single other episodes data. Perhaps I should have.
But now, I wont be able to have my original, proper save transfered to season 2 again like I really wanted to be able to do the next time I play that game. I dont want to have to try to remember the same choices I made in Season 1 the first time around so its right. It has been way too long since I played through. I was pretty calm and accepting of all this but now I'm really annoyed! If my save file had been there all the time like it was supposed to be, I would have just started a new game in a different file and everything would be fine.

I apologize for the delayed response, and any difficulties this has caused you. Can you please clarify if you ever deleted and re-downloaded Season One from your Xbox 360 at any point? If so, when you re-downloaded it, did you start it while connected to the internet and logged into an Xbox Live account so that you receive the latest Title Update available for the game? Also, can you please clarify if you have both the Full Game, and the Demo version of Season One currently installed on your Xbox 360? If so, it can cause issues such as the ones you are describing, and we recommend deleting the Demo version if you currently own the Full Game version. Unfortunately if you chose to restart an episode in your original save slot, your previous save data was overwritten. If you had been using multiple save slots, please make sure that you have updated the game by connecting to the internet and starting the game again, and see if the other save slot's save data is restored. Unfortunately if you only used the one save slot, your original save data will have been overwritten.
