Seriouslt Telltale?? You are blowing off all of these customers??
There are a lot of people out there pretty pissed off because we spend $30 on a game that crashes before it even gets started. It doesnt appear that Telltale is responding to this problem AT ALL.
Unfortunately, I have resorted to contacting my credit card company and reporting fraud since I have paid for something online and not received what I paid for and the merchant hasnt made good on it and refuses to communicate about it. I suggest the rest of you do the same.
Consumer fraud is illegal. Do not let them get away with it.

Is this the Mac issue? Where you click to begin and it then crashes?
yup. thats the one.
There has been a response. Haven't fixed it yet but at least they identified the issue https://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/91550/episode-2-mac-ttg-download-crash-issue
Thanks, but that appears to be in response to problems they are having with episode 2.
Im referring to the problems people are having with a newly purchased game, freshly downloaded, crashing before episode 1 even starts.
that is about not being able to play 2nd episode.....i can't even play the 1st episode...heck i can't even start the damn game....
I can't start the game either but it's the same issue! the crash on start up 'click to start' began when they released episode 2! As the guy said "or are crashing when attempting to connect to our servers when starting the game" - thats our issue re the click to start. Hopefully they sort it soon
This is simply amazing. From what I can tell this problem was first described here on the 6th of December of 2014. More than 2 months have gone by and apparently there's no solution, the only thing they've told customers is "we're working hard to fix it".
I'm amazed how Telltale provides such shitty customer service.
Apparently this has been fixed, you guys having any luck???
We have updated the Mac version of the game on our website. If you are still experiencing any crashing, please uninstall the game (this will not harm your save files, you can choose to keep them) and download the new installer from our website, and the game should no longer crash on start-up on your Mac.
TelltaleMike, could you please post a link from the installer in your website?
My apologies, we have updated the Mac patch as well if you have already installed the game. You should be able to re-download the latest version of the Mac patch Here, and after downloading and installing it, please start the game again, and you should no longer experience the crashing when launching the game.
I downloaded the patch, installed it. I was getting hopeful...and the game's still crashing, doesn't even open.
If you are still experiencing issues starting the game after installing the patch, please read this Sticky on how to run our Support Tool, and follow the steps to run the tool, and reply here with the download link copied and pasted into a reply. You can find the Sticky here:

After receiving the information from your support tool, I will be able to assist you further.

My apologies, it appears that you uploaded the Support Tool file itself. Please make sure to follow the steps in the Sticky to run the tool, and after you have double clicked the support tool, and the command window runs, it will output a .zip file. You will upload that file to the file hosting website, and reply here with the download link copied and pasted into a reply.
Thought I uploaded the zip file, but here you go then:

My sincerest apologies, unfortunately after looking over your Support Tool information, it seems that your computer is running below the minimum system requirements to run the game successfully. Where we require a minimum of 512mb of dedicated memory, your computer is currently running at 144mb of dedicated memory. Your computer uses an integrated graphics card, which we do not recommend using for our game, as they tend to run under minimum specs. I recommend try playing the game on a computer above minimum system requirements if you have the ability to, or contacting Steam Support for any inquiries regarding refunds, or refund requests.
