Game won't save

Hi, I am having trouble with this game. It is the third save on my account and basically sometimes when I die rather than letting me continue it will send me back to the title menu with the game haven't not saved. Can anyone help?

Edit: as some added information. We died at the first part of season 1 (with the cop) then quit to make sure it was saving and it saved it in the third save spot. However by the time we finished this save had disappeared, but when I click start new game and click stats it still has all my choices from the game that didn't save. I started episode 2 but now that isn't saving either.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify if you have started the game while connected to the internet to ensure you have downloaded the latest update available for the game? If not, I recommend doing so now, and you should be able to then continue playing the game successfully.

I also came across this issue. There is something dodgy about save slot 3 I think. I had a full completed game in slot one, there was an episode 1 save in slot 3 and slot 2 was empty. I started a new game in slot 2 and finished up to the start of episode 4. I quit the game AFTER the auto save finished. I went back in to the file selection screen and discovered it had been deleted. I tried copying save file 1 which had all episodes completed, the copy function wouldn't work. I then tried loading save file 1, after I played for a bit I quit after autosave and went back to the file selection screen only to discover that save file 1 was also deleted.

I have the PS4 disc version from Australia. Also I noticed you mentioned about downloading the latest update, where is it because I have never had a prompt to update it ever, as far as I know the latest version is whatever is on the disc?

Have you started the game while connected to the internet, and signed into your PSN account? If so, you should have received an auto-update in the background that would have completed by itself. If you have not started the game while connected to the internet, you would not have received the update, or the latest in-game content when it connects to our servers after you reach the splash screen.

  • My PS4 is always connected to PSN and is also set up to search for updates when I turn it on. I even tried manually searching for an update through the options menu and selecting 'Check for Update'. The message I get back is 'The installed application is the latest version'. Checking the game information via the options as well shows it is version 01.00. Could it be possible that the update has not been deployed to AU PSN?

I can send you screenshots if you require proof.

Apologies for my confusion, the disc version of the game may not have an update needed. If you are seeing save files being deleted from in-game, can you please clarify if you have your Season One save data backed up to the Playstation Online Storage? Also, can you still see your save data for the game in your PS4's Storage Management menu from the last time you played it, and you still had your save files? Or does it have an older date associated with the save data?

  • Yes I have my data backed up and can still see the save file in the storage management screen. The save file still exists but all the save slots are now empty and do not save or copy. I managed to replicate this issue again last night by deleting my save file (I still have a backup), and using save slot 1. After completing episodes 1 and 2 I would copy the slot 1's save into slot 2 and 3. This would work fine until after I completed episode 3. When I tried copying it over after finishing episode 3, save slot 2 copied fine but when I tried copying it to 3 it went back to 'New Game'. If I tried copying agin it wouldn't work and if I started playing with either of the saves from slot 1 or 2 no matter which episode or rewound part, it would not save and wipe the save file after I completed the episode or quit halfway through it. It would end up with 'New Game'.

Thank you for providing the extra information, I will make sure to pass it along to the team for further investigation. Unfortunately at this time, I do not have any other potential solutions for you to try and resolve your issue. I recommend for now, try using only 2 save slots, and you should not run into the issue. My apologies for any difficulties this may cause you.

It is not necessary to provide us your save file, as the information you've provided is helpful enough. If you would like to upload your save file, and reply with a download link to it, I would be glad to pass it along for you.
