ToMI: 2 computers, 1 house

Can I have this game running on 2 computers with 1 subscription? Me and my brother are huge fans, we almost had a heart attack when we stumbled across this on Rons blog, I don't want to have to pay for the game twice...

They give you like 10 or 20 activations, so yeah you can install it on multiple computers.

Correct - sharing is fine as long as you're not doing something sketchy like posting your serial number on the web for anyone to use. ;) But of course you'll only be able to get one free Collector's DVD at the end of the season.

    There's an activation limit? Really?

I change OS/Computers quite a lot and I've installed many games more than 10 times. So after 10 OS changes and subsequent S&M reinstalls I can't play it?

Had I known about this I would have thought twice about buying it!

    From the FAQ:
You can download the game as many times as you want. There is a limit on the number of times you can unlock, but the limit is so high you'll probably never encounter it. (The limit is simply there to prevent serial numbers from being posted to the web where hundreds or thousands of people can access it.) On the rare chance that you do use up your game activations, just email our friendly support staff and we'll be happy to increase it for you.

Thanks for posting that, it's what I was going to say. :D

The limit is high and it doesn't reset every time you install/uninstall. Since we switched to serial numbers in 2007 we haven't had any reports of people running out of activations.

Also the DVD version does not use online activation.

Are (all) the ordered DVD versions then much like the PC retail release of Sam & Max? Not requiring an online connection at all?

Yes, all of our DVDs use disc based copy protection, rather than online activation. So you do need to have the disc in the drive as you play (actually, just when you launch an episode), but you don't need to activate.

Ah. I thought I had read somewhere that the shipped DVD versions of the games had a serial key that you had to activate online beforehand. That's good news!

Excellent. That means we don't need an internet connection when running the game from the DVD.
