So when she leaves, sparing him a last glance he tries to convince himself next time he'll be braver.
She disappears from his sight and his gut twists.

From a comedic perspective, that doesn't really make sense. I don't see why any thought other than "Sasha is attractive" would be viewed as funny in that situation.
I'm on the fence with all this shipping stuff, but that easily could be taken in various ways. He could be hinting he thinks Sasha is a bit manipulative or that she has shit choice in men.
