Downloaded but won't install

Hi,
I have downloaded episode two today but it will not install.
Every time I go into either "play" or "episodes" it says

"A new episode has been downloaded would you like to load it? Selecting accept will take you back to the main menu"

It's an infinite loop and it won't load?

Latest version has been down loaded. iPad Air.

Thanks!!

Hope somebody can figure out what's going on, kinda irritating

  • Thread: Ipad 4 downloaded but wont install

    Hi

Ive downloaded ep 2 from a season pass onto my ipad but I'm always coming up against 'downloaded. Would you like to load it? Choosing accept will return you to the main menu' and when I do it hasnt installed. Rebooted my system and downloaded version 1.2 from the app store, to no avail.

Would I lose my saves and season pass subscription if I deleted and redownloaded the app, or is there a way I havent tried yet?

Looking forward to hearing from you and ecstatic to give the episode a play!

  • I have the same problem.please help!

  • I am having the exact same issue, I too haven't reinstalled the app due to not wanting to lose my save file. If you click into episodes you can click episode 2 and it says the whole "choosing accept will return you to the main menu" nonsense. same if you go to play, please what is the deal here? also i am on an iphone 6 if that helps.

  • Having the exact same issue. I have updated the ipad, updated the game, and tried everything else to get this to work and I am having the same issue as others. Can this be fixed pls. It tells me I have it downloaded but not installed.

  • I also have this issue with my ipad 3. Episode 2 is downloaded but cannot be installed. Restarting the device also won`t fix it. Hope a telltale staff can come up with a solution.

I apologize for any difficulties this has caused you. If you are experiencing issues where you do not see Episode 2 as installed after updating the game app to the latest version, as well as fully downloading the episode onto your device, please close the game and all other applications running in the background. This should free up necessary system resources. (To close an app running in the background on iOS 6 and before: double tap the home button to make all running apps appear at the bottom of the screen, hold down on an app you wish to close and red buttons will appear, tap the red buttons to close the apps. If on iOS 7/8, double tap the home button and swipe up on the open apps to close them) Also, please turn off your iOS device for at least three minutes before attempting to play the game again. This will allow the device’s cache to clear.

Then after restarting your device, please reset the WiFi by turning the WiFi Settings Off, and back On again. Then try starting the game application again, and see if you are able to successfully see Episode 2 as installed.

  • I have followed the steps that you have provided and I am still getting the screen "New Content Downloaded" A new episode has been downloaded. Would you like to load it? Selecting ACCEPT will return you to the Main Menu. I then proceed to tap ACCEPT, but it takes me back to the main screen and nothing has changed. It still tells me that I have it downloaded, but not installed. Is there another step to correcting this? Please respond with any help. Thank you

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please make sure that the game app is updated to the latest version (Version 1.2). If you still experience the issue, resetting your iOS device, then restarting the game application may also resolve this particular issue. (You may need to fully close the game application by double-tapping the Home button, then swiping up on the Tales From The Borderlands App so that it fully closes. Then turn your device off and back on again in order to clear the device's cache)

  • I have the same issue.
I have restarted the device and unloaded the app from memory as well.
    Nothing has changed.
I have the season pass and there may have been some switching between the JP and US App Shop involved. My account and app was purchases through the JP Store

  • Any update on this? I still have the same issue.Pls help.

  • So that's its? No update for those of us who paid for the Ipad version?

  • Mike,
We all have tried all those you mentioned and nothing is successful. Telltale should release a new version to fix this major bug. It is a huge disappointment for iOS users to not be able to play when they have paid for it.

If you are still experiencing the issue, please also try connecting to a different WiFi network when attempting to download the episode, and see if your connection with our servers is stronger and allows you to download Episode 2 successfully.

Can you please clarify what country/region you are currently located in? Depending on the region you are located in you may not be able to connect to the servers from the particular region you purchased the game from.

I think we are all getting the download, its just not installing.
Press install and it loops back to the main menu.
I have done it on multiple networks as well.

  • I'm in Japan on the Japan App store.
I could download the update, and i have done so for the Walking Dead as well.
It just doesn't seem to do the install part when I go to play.

Unfortunately if you are still experiencing the issue after attempting my above suggestions, another potential solution would be to download the episode, and when you reach the "A new episode has been downloaded would you like to load it? Selecting accept will take you back to the main menu" message, hit Cancel instead of Accept, then go back to the main menu (your download/install process should be paused), then re-enter the episodes menu, and see if you are then able to successfully complete the download/install process.

I have forwarded the information you have provided to the team for further investigation, but if you are still unable to download and install the episode successfully, please reply here.

  • I just tried this to no avail. Hitting cancel instead of accept does not affect anything. Still stuck in a loop and unable to install episode 2.

  • Have tried everythng and still stuck in loop. Please fix soon.

  • I'm having the same issue and I'm on the new ipad (ipad 3) 32gb with 2gigs open. I've tried everything here and am on the newest update with no success. I really want to play. I hope y'all can fix it or find a solution soon.

If you have already tried closing all applications running in the background, as well as making sure that the game app is updated to the latest version, I recommend also try deleting the app from your device, and re-downloading it from the App Store. (Please note that this will delete your save files from within the game) Then after you have completely re-installed the app on your device, please make sure to turn it off, and back on again before attempting to start the newly installed version of the app for the first time.

How about you bring out an update that lets you backup your save file. Then I'll try to delete.

We are currently looking further into the root cause of the issue. Unfortunately at this time we have not announced plans to add a save backup feature to the game. I will make sure to pass your interest along to the team, and I'll make sure to update this thread when I receive any news on a fix/update for this issue.

The update to fix this issue should allow you to download the Episode, and continue your save without deleting anything. My suggestion of deleting the application is a potential solution in order for people to try and download the episode after a fresh install of the game to see if they have different results. If you would like to keep your current saves/choices, please do not delete your app. I hope to have an update on the resolution for this issue in the near future.

If you are still stuck in the download loop issue that you originally posted of, you may have received a bad download file, and deleting and re-downloading the app should resolve your particular issue. Please note that any save files you have within the game app will be deleted in the process. Again, my apologies for any difficulties this has caused you.
