Monkey Island Merchandise

Are there any plans to sell Monkey Island related stuff in the Telltale store - similar to the Sam and Max related items? I bought a poster and a shirt from LEC's store but I'd prefer to buy stuff from Telltale and get ToMI related stuff. Different T-shirt, the e3 pins, poster - that kind of thing.

You know. As I wait 10 days. Or maybe after the season is over?

I think we're still investigating that. If we can, we will! While it always stresses me out when I'm actually in the process of doing it, I love that Telltale has allowed me to make lots of cool merchandise that I would like to buy even if I wasn't the one making it. Hopefully we can do some Monkey stuff, but there are licensing issues for Monkey and Wallace & Gromit which are more complicated than with Sam & Max (where we can more or less just ask Steve if its a cool idea and when he says yes we do it).

Yeah, I can totally understand that. You guys have cool stuff for sale in the shop for Sam and Max - I'd love to buy stuff like that of a MI nature. Hopefully they give you the heads up on that and thanks for the swift response.

You know, LucasArts is already taking pre orders for Monkey Island t-shirts and stuff

The LucasArts stuff just seems to lack a sense of style. The "evolution" shirt just seems uninspired and implies that the SE Guybrush is an evolution of the character as a whole, and the fight T-Shirt is alright but I just don't think the special edition versions look nearly as good as fighting each other on a shirt with more stylized art would have looked.

And...where does LucasArts have a poster? I see two shirts and a rather dull pin set.

Oh wow. They stopped selling it.

Glad I ordered mine when I did. It's just basically a redo of the Secret Box art by Purcell but with the new art direction.

    sacrilege!

And it takes a lot for me to say that.

Hmm I wonder why they would stop trying to sell a poster like that? :p

I like the new direction they took. It's not better, but it's different and I like it. Watching gameplay videos sold me his hair is not that big of a deal as you see him side to side most of the time.

I don't mind the hair that much, actually. I think his face looks like he's had a bad accident and his legs look like horses legs :)

I'd want a life-sized Murray the Skull, now that is something worth every coin in my wallet! :P

Seriously though, I hope you'll get out some sweet merch for Monkey5. ^^

You don't need to pay much money for that. Just get a spade, go to the cemetery, find a grave from around 1690 and do what comes naturally. Skulls don't come much more authentic. The only money you'll need is for bail if anyone notices you.

I'd want one that looked realistic that you could trick your friends with.

"Is...is that a skull on your desk?"

    "Yeah."

    *Pull String*

"I will stride through the gates of Hell with your head on a pike!"

Well yeah, that's one way to solve it. :P But I want it to talk!

    Precisely!

Oh, why don't these marketing and merchandising people listen to these great ideas? Talking Murray skulls, Sam & Max plush toys (that's the one that's really surprising it hasn't happened), rubber chickens with pulleys in the middle...

To piffle with your licensing issues sir! Make the merchandise, sell it and worry about the lawsuit later!

Can we at least get a Soundtrack for Monkey Island? My Music collection seems empty without an official release! :p
  • edited June 2009
Yes, please! MI merchandise by Telltale!

I don't like at all the t-shirts and pins (let alone the poster) on LEC store, totally uninspired in my opinion... But the your E3 pins... That's it! Simply wonderful! :)

I really hope you'll be able to sort out license issues and give us more like that!

... And the soundtrack, please :D

Considering Michael Land is working on Tales, and he was the only composer on Curse, any chance you guys could have a word with him and Lucasarts to get The Curse of Monkey Island OST out either?

Lego Monkey Island toys would be cool.
I would like to have action figures to display on my desk... to inspire me while I paint.
  • edited June 2009
I would buy the shit out of a life-size Murray.
  • edited June 2009
*ahem* Featuring my own personal selfish opinion:

Life-Size Murray would be SO cool! I'd buy one! Hell, I'd take him with me wherever I go!
Hmmm, action figures would be really great, but I don't think they can do that. The costs might be too much VS the profit on that segment.
Everybody loves buttons! Buttons are cool. Buttons are your frieeeeends. :p
T-Shirts would be really sweet, but maybe they should post a poll regarding what images are the best (i.e. What would fans want on a T-Shirt).
Pens/notebooks with MI characters or logo... errr, for the little ones? Honestly, I don't think those would sell very well.
Stickers! Well, just for fun I'd buy a pack :p
What else? Oh, Soundtrack! Yesyesyesyesyes! :D
Let's see... Caps/hats...yeah, that would work. Depending on what image/text they contain.
Backpacks, for trips and all your monkey-adventuring out there, in naaaaatuuuuuure (spooky). I'd get one.

    Hmmm, anybody else? :D

    A TALKING MURRAY KEYRING! :D

Yeah I like the posters/t-shirts best for merch. Just make sure the T-shirts look good quality before making them (I sometimes think the bigger companies have one guy who spends his lunchbreak making a couple of cheap designs and they just go with it).

Maybe I'm spoiled by the generally classy nature of a lot of the Sam and Max merch, but a lot of that just would feel like corporate shill.

I mean, if you look at what into making the Sam and Max Surfin' the Highway reprint, you'd see that Telltale can probably do quite a bit better than slapping logos and images onto things.

Even their soundtracks are of an incredible quality, and you can tell that they're made by people that care about what they're working on. I want something like that from Telltale again. This could manifest in any number of ways I'm sure, but at the moment my thoughts are heading towards prints and soundtracks, I suppose.

I hope they surprise us with something pretty incredible.

Any shot of sweet stuff soon now that we have a vast legion of frothing, rabid fans here?
  • edited July 2009
I'd like to add to this and say that there's a market for a special Monkey Island comic. I remember there being a webcomic on World of Monkey Island, which I adored reading. ... Until it stopped being updated, anyway. Point is, I'd definitely pay for a comic book with a nice little Guybrush-style adventure, filled with those typical 'Monkey Island' shenanigans we all know and love.

I'd pay money for a talking Murray.
  • edited July 2009
I'm telling you now, in all seriousness.

I would buy ANYTHING TTG Monkey Island related. ANYTHING.

But I would expect the really classy stuff we've got used to :)

I stupidly bought a bit of S+M merch off ebay without realising you could get it off here:o

I'm with zmally above, I'd buy any Monkey Island merchandise that Telltale put up for sale, as I have with all of the Sam & Max stuff.
  • edited July 2009
    A talking Murray skull? Brilliant.

But come on if they do not make a Porcelain Power Pirates Guybrush action figure... I will lose all faith in humanity.

I haven't quite got much of the S+M stuff yet.. I got the soundtrack for season 1, and the animated series on ebay, and I preordered season 1 for the Wii at Gamestation. Oh, and when I preordered ToMI I ordered the Season 2 Case File.. But that's it :(

I've been wanting that Surfin' On The Highway Hardback for some time.. I'm getting a little extra money in my pay packet next month, so I might just buy it! But I fully intend on buying as much as humanly possible from TTG!!

I've been letting my xbox 360 get in the way of the important things :(

A talking Murray would be cool. But I would seriously kill for well made three headed monkey plush toy!

I'd probably buy a soundtrack and possibly a poster (drawn by Steve Purcell). Then again, the Sam&Max-double-soundtrack-deal should really be available again by the time the ToMI DVD comes out, so I'd order that too. Shipping costs will be interesting. ;)

I am trying to buy any stuff related to Monkey Island for any price :D

ps. the 2 new MI tshirts from LEC Store hasn't been released yet seems, where supposed to be in July, might they be waiting for the game release ?

They should sell fizzy voodoo root beer, or root grog.
