GoT won't start since arrival of Ep 3

Hi!

First of all, I want to say how much I appreciate what you guys make. I actually haven't played any other games besides GoT, but it's so good that it makes me want to try your other series. However, due to all the technical issues that have kept coming up, I've become less interested in staying a Telltale consumer and more interested in just getting my GoT-season pass money back.

I haven't played my GoT since I downloaded Episode 2 to my Mac (by the time I could finally download it, I had already run out of patience and played it on my PS3 instead. There was so much hastle!) Now that Episode 3 has been released, I wanted to start the game again and get the download going, with the silly hope that maybe this time things would run smoothly.

To my non-surprise, I was wrong.

This time, the game won't even properly start. The black "Telltale Games Presents..." window appears, the GoT-app icon bouncing on the dock, signaling that it's starting. After about a minute, the icon stops bouncing and just sit there. The black window is frozen and nothing happens.

I bought the season pass, money up-front as requested from you people. I can hardly be the only one paying that way - what do you guys do with the money? Develop new game after new game after new game? I'm no economics expert, but in such a case, maybe you should prioritize investing your money in some proper technical staff or something so the games that are currently being released actually work as intended so that people get their money's worth. I'm afriad that what you're doing now is mostly a way of losing customers, but I can only speak for myself.

I hate to go on a "rant" like this, as previously mentioned I'm definitely not an expert of any kind and I really appreciate the focus you guys are putting on story telling and intense drama. You're elevating games to new, modern levels. I want to keep supporting Telltale games and play your earlier as well as upcoming releases, but I'm losing my patience here.

If there is some way you can assist me in getting the game I already paid for to work again and dowload Episode 3, I would appreciate it.

I apologize for the inconvenience. We are still actively looking into the root cause of the issue, and hope to have more information in the near future. For a possible workaround in the meantime, you should be able to resolve this issue by deleting the 'GameOfThrones_patch.mft' file from your 'Game of Thrones' folder located here:

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\Game of Thrones\

    or if on Mac:

    ~/Library/Application Support/ Telltale Games/Game of Thrones/

(Your Library folder is sometimes hidden, to make it visible, please open a Finder window, and at the top of the screen, click Go and hold down the Option key. The Library will now become available in the drop down menu. Click that and follow the above file path, and delete the file specified above.)

Then restart the game while connected to the internet, and Episode 3 should become available to download, and your save files should be restored in-game.

  • Problem solved, thanks!

You will need to go into your Library's file directory located here:

    ~/Library/Application Support/ Telltale Games/Game of Thrones/
