Could you clarify the method that you started the other save slots? Did you copy over your save file from Slot 1, or did you start a completely new game in the other slots? Also, have you used the rewind feature at all, or have you only played through without rewinding the game at all?

Alright I too have this problem and I too have more than one save flies and 2 of them outta 4 are on episode 2. I also tried this deleting a

  • I started a new a game for all of them... Nothing was a copy and I only used the rewind feature on my newest save profile.

  • I am afraid I actually have the same issue with Game Of Thrones on PS3. After installing the new update and episode 4 I could not start the game. There was a black screen and then it just crashed. Deleting and reinstalling the game but not installing the update helped, but after I exited and tried to play again the same problem appeared. Is there any solution? I personally have 4 save - files in the game, is reducing them to 3/2/1 count helps?
Can you please help me solve this problem or, if you are working on it, do this before the episode 5 will come out? Sorry for my bad English, I am not in terms with the language.
(I only have this problem with game of thrones. Tales from the borderlands, the wolf among us, the walking dead 1,2 works just fine on my PS3)

  • I have this same problem with TFTBL Ep. 3 on PS3, and after deleting and re-installing the game a couple of times, I still haven't been able to access the game. Trying results in the notorius black screen appearing and the PS3 system crashes. I had no problems with episodes 1 and 2. I had 3 save files. This kinda sucks since I bought the season pass. :( I wonder if this is something that will be fixed, or should I just give up and get the game for my PC, because I really, really, really like this series.

  • Well, I kinda fixed that problem, temporary or not.
I downloaded first episode, then installed the update, after that - deleted one of my saves(I had four) - so there are only 3 save - files now. After that I downloaded the rest episodes and viola- the game starts perfectly, without black screen and crashes.
So maybe the solution is to delete extra save - files. Although I 've got this problem only in Game of Thrones, not in TFTB
So try this, maybe with 2 or 1 active safe - files game will work

  • I did what you did as described, but couldn't even get past installing the update. Once it was installed, the black screen and crashing problem persisted. >:( Maybe it has something to do with the update after all...

  • So it's been a month and I haven't been able to play the game since I first reported the issue. I'm also not willing to get rid of my 2 save files if I don't know it's actually going to fix the problem permanently. Given the nature of these games having to replay the episodes every single time cannot be a solution anyway.

I appreciate TelltaleMike's quick responses, but I would also like to know if there's any progress being made.

@relaxovision Yes! We believe to have found the root cause of the issue, and are currently working on a potential fix. We hope to have more information in the near future, and for now please do not delete your save files. When I have any news, I'll make sure to post it here as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience!

The v1.06 update is now live! Please start the game while connected to the internet and logged into your PSN Profile, and you should receive the alert to update your game to the latest version. After you have updated the game, it will restart to install the update and you should then be able to successfully reach the main menu and continue playing! We thank you for your patience, and hope you enjoy the game!
