Xbox controller not functioning.

I attempted to begin Episode 3 yesterday and the game would not recognize my wireless xbox controller. I have already played through Episodes 1 & 2 using the controller. I attempted several fixes, none successful. I exited/restarted steam. I rebooted my PC. I started the game with my controller plugged in and connected. I started the game without it plugged in and and connected it after it had already loaded. I verified my game cache and finnally I reinstalled the game.

Through all of this frustration, I have successfully used the controller in Steam Big Picture and at least a dozen other games. As far as I'm aware this is the only game that is having any issue recognizing the controller.

    Please note that the only controller we officially support is the Wired Microsoft Windows/Xbox Controller. If you were able to use your wireless controller previously, and are not now, please make sure that you have updated the controller's drivers to the latest version, then try plugging it in, then start the game again and see if you are able to have the game see your controller as an input device.

    is there any difference (software-wise) between the wired and wireless controller? And if so, is there any hope the wireless one will be supported sometime in the future?

    I just noticed that only controller #1 seems to be recognized by the game. So when I unplugged my wired controller and reconnected the wireless one everything worked just fine. You might want to try this if you haven't already done so

    Unfortuantely, since Episode 3, the controller won't work anymore. As it was working fine in Episodes 1 and 2, something must have changed. I'd very much appreciate it if the devs took a look into this.

    Unfortunately as the wireless Xbox controller is not officially supported, we do not have any potential solutions to resolve your issue. There may be a third-party software that may be able to assist you, but the process is not officially supported.
