Parallels with the Starks

One day, while in delirium, after some drunken pondering, I've noticed some vague parallels between the Starks and the Forresters.

  • Lady Catelyn = Lady Forrester

  • Would do about anything to save her family.
  • Some suggest that she is the traitor, which only furthers the analogy.
  • Pretty batshit insane by some accounts.

Robb = Rodrik

  • Oldest son.
  • "Killed" at the Twins during the Red Wedding.
  • Meant to replace Gregor/Ned as Lord Forrester/Stark.

Sansa = Mira

  • Oldest daughter.
  • Also stuck in King's Landing with strong ties to the crown, being Margaery's handmaiden and all.
  • Considered by some to have one of the more boring story-lines.

Arya = Talia

  • Youngest daughter.
  • Was taught how to fight and defend herself.
  • Generally more masculine and dare I say sassy in habits than Mira.

Bran = Ethan

  • Mortally wounded by nobility.
  • Lawful young Lord of Ironrath, just as Bran was the lawful lord of Winterfell at such a young age.

Rickon = Ryon

  • Youngest son.
  • Held captive, and his whereabouts are pretty shady.

  • Jon = Asher

  • The prodigal son.
  • Dank wild girlfriend.

Or, if you're more into R+L=J:

  • Jon = Gared
  • Not related by blood, but equally as loved by Lord Gregor/Ned and Talia/Arya.
  • Night's Watch.
  • Jon himself lampshaded their similarities during one of their small talks.

Let me know if your deluded minds can add on to this stupid list.

  • Interesting.

    I don't see a lot of it tbh. Maybe it was because we never really got to know Robb's personality so I can't compare him to Rodrik, Jon doesn't remind me of Asher at all, and Mira has a much different life in King's Landing than Sansa did. Talia is too mellow compared to Arya for me. The only similarity I can somewhat see is Lady Forrester and Catelyn Stark, and that's barely. IMO of course

  • I can see Malcolm as the Blackfish, Harys as Sandor Clegane and Gryff as Joffrey

  • Vague you say? Excluding Asher it's more like a carbon copy.

    Gared is definitely Jon. Asher is closer to Arya than Gared, being a strike first worry later member of the family seperated from the others and in closer association with Essos than the others.

  • You were trying too hard to find similarities for Bran/Ethan and Rickon/Ryon. They're not very much alike at all. The Forresters are not that similar to the Starks.

  • Lady Forrester and Stark are both from the South too.
