Problem with controller, no crosshairs in episode 3 onward

I was playing the game quite successfully with a bluetooth controller. The game accepted the controller and I was playing it just like I would a console version.

I reach episode 3 however and the selection crosshair, the one moved with the right analogue stick, has vanished. I can still move Lee around with the left but am unable to do anything else as I can't select anything.

Go back to episode 1 or 2 and the crosshair returns.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately we do not officially support the use of Bluetooth controllers with The Walking Dead: Season One on Android devices. I recommend disconnecting the controller from your Android device, and the in-game cursor should return, and you will be able to progress successfully.

Forgive me then, given that the game changes the UI to reflect the controller buttons being there I thought it was officially supported. My error obviously.

The touch screen controls are good though, I just don't like the framing that happens when you get to 'cinematic' sections. Another reason I thought the use of controller was officially supported since that doesn't happen when using one.

Thanks for the reply anyway. Nice to know it wasn't something wrong with my controller, which I initially thought it was.

Thread: No official controller support? Really?

I posted a thread before on how the selection crosshair disappeared in episode 3. I was told by a member of Telltale staff that they didn't support controllers on Android. Really?

If there is no controller support why do you changes all the prompts in the game to controller ones while using one. If it isn't officially supported, why is there a menu option before starting the game asking you which input you want to use (controller or touch screen).

If the controller wasn't supported then why did you bother to put the damn options in the game?

Now I've tried to resist posting this because I enjoy the games but the sheer untruth has just boiled over to the point that I wanted to rant.

Unfortunately bluetooth controllers are not officially supported to use on the Android version of the game at this time. I will however make sure to pass along your feedback and interest in the addition of controller support, along to the team!

  • Well what controllers are supported then?

I find it hard to believe you put in prompts for controller buttons and a selection screen offering the use of a controller if there wasn't a single brand that you used to test with.

My apologies, I do not believe Season One officially supports the use of any controllers to play the game. Unfortunately I do not have any more information regarding controller support for Android devices, and for more information, I recommend contacting our Support Staff at Support@Telltalegames.com.

  • Sorry but I simply do not believe that Telltale would go to the effort of adding a controller interface to the game, change how certain scenes play, remove the border from cinematics, and add an option at the beginning for the player to chose between touchscreen or controller if they never intended people to use the damn option.
