So Hellblazer gets a movie and a TV series and Fables gets nothing?!

For those that don't know, Hellblazer is a Vertigo comic series that ran for 23 years and had 300 issues. It ended in 2002, but was picked up again for a prequel series about it's main character, John Constantine, in 2011 (correct me if I am wrong)

In 2005, the comic got a film starring Keanu Reeves called Constantine, and last year it got a TV series also called Constantine starring Max Ryan. While this wouldn't NORMALLY bother me, Fables has nothing! >:(

Sure Grimm and Once Upon A Time take inspiration from Fables, but they aren't Fables...

Anyone else think that this is a little unfair? I know Fables is being made into a movie, but nothing has been said about it's development recently :(

  • Didn't Constantine get cancelled?

  • No idea :P

I literally just learned it was a TV series, and IMDB labelled it as on-going still...

Bill Willingham just commented a few days ago that it's still a greenlit project, just that the first script that was turned in was a "hot mess", so it's being re-written. In January, it was reported that the new script is being written by X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass writer Jane Goldman, so hopefully the new script turns out good and the project can go forward.

  • I heard all of that, I just hoped we'd be hearing more you know? :)

    Thank you.

Well personally I don't feel like Grimm is super based on Fables, but once a upon a time is blanten copying. Also hellblazer is like you said, 23 years old, unlike Fables which is 13

  • You can hate me for saying this, but I don't think this movie should be made... There is something very special in Fables and The Wolf Among Us style and atmosphere which I don't think can be replicated in the real world, I have a feeling like the movie is going to be one big disappointment :(

  • Won't know until we watch it :)

  • If something so stupid like Once upon a time gets season 5 than there should be series based on Fables.

  • I think they should use television format insted of movie format.
