Black Screen Help.

Hi everyone!

So I'm all excited about the nex episode and I launch the game to play.. But I've got an issue. The game launches itself, the first screen is all fine, then comes the loading screen which is fine too but after that I get a black screen like that :

I moved this to the support forum.

I am not Telltale staff so i can't offer technical advice but hopefully @TelltaleMike will be able to help once he gets into the office in the morning.

  • Thank you anyways.

  • I am having the exact same problem.

  • me too!

  • Just started the game, and I'm getting this as well.

  • You might all be interested in this thread. I had the same problem but I'm now ready to play:
    Cannot download E4

  • I had the same problem. Made sure I had a copy of my saved files (although ultimately I didn't need them, but, you know, just in case) and reinstalled the game. It is working fine since then.

  • Having the same problem. Reinstalling doesn't seem to fix things.

  • Yup. I tried reinstalling it didn't do shit.

  • I have exactly the same problem.

  • Im having the same problem with a black screen after the loading screen. Right before it says 'Checking for DLC...' and something about updating choices... then its all black with the arrow.

  • Yeah, I forgot I had the exact same problem with the 2nd or third episode.. And the solution was the same. It's annoying, but you have to download the latest version of the client from the site. Uninstall the game, then reinstall using the new client. You can temporarily rename your folder with your saves and DLC, then name it back again, so at least you don't have to download the other episodes again. Then you're free to download ep 4.

  • I'm gonna try with the newest client. I'll check back later with you guys.

  • Same problem here. I installed the patch (didn´t have problems with episode 2) without reinstalling or anything, now it works fine...

If you start the game on PC/Mac and see a black screen with the game cursor, but still hear the background music of the game, please try starting the game again, and when you see the blank/black screen, please try switching the game to Windowed Mode using the shortcut (Alt+Enter for PC, Command+F for Mac) and see if you are then able to see the game correctly. If so, please then try changing the game's resolution and/or graphics settings to a lower setting, and click Apply. Then try switching back to Full Screen Mode by using the same shortcut, and your issue should then be resolved.

Nope, doesn't work for me. I still see the black screen in a windowed mode.

If you are still experiencing the issue, we believe to have made a server-side fix that should resolve this particular issue. We recommend closing/exiting out of the game, then make sure you are connected to the internet when starting the game again, and the game should update in the background while it's loading.

If the issue persists, please read this Sticky on how to run our Support Tool, and follow the steps to run the tool, and reply here with the download link copied and pasted into a reply. You can find the Sticky here:

After receiving the information from your support tool, I will be able to assist you further.

After looking over your Support Tool information, it appears that your computer's graphics card is currently outputting 0mb of Dedicated Memory. I recommend updating your graphics card's drivers to the latest version, then restart your computer. After it has restarted, start Game of Thrones again, and it should then update and allow you to play.

If you still experience the issue again, please also try downloading and installing the Ep 2 PC Patch again, and see if that allows you to download and play.

  • So far things seem to be working. Downloading the episode now.

Because the DxDiag report is only showing my integrated graphics card. I use an nVidia card to play GoT.

Anyways, installing the EP 2 patch again helped me. Thank you!

  • If you bought the game directly from Telltale, you can download the client from your account, it will be updated. You should back up your saves just to be sure, although I don't think it's actually necessary. I just renamed it, and then renamed it again to its old name after installing.

2] I don't know if this solution works for Mac, but obviously there's no harm in trying (assuming you don't uninstall all your saves by accident).
