I found out recently that if the timer runs out Elissa begs Ludd not to kill Ryon. It's so heartbreaking she says something like "Ludd please I'm begging you don't take another son away from me" and interestingly enough he doesn't smirk like if Rodrik begs for mercy and he says "Mark this day Rodrik your mother just saved your house"
