One more traitor theory
The traitor is the one who doesn't get the bracer. But only betrays you at first(like Jorah Mormont did), and then turns his back on the Whitehills. That would explain both Duncan and Royland killing Ludd if you order so. In the next episode you will have the opportunity to forgive them or exile them.
I think maybe this would make more sense since the maester has much more to lose: If house forrester falls apart he will be left with no job at all.
