Too bad they didn't do something like the steam model where people could download for a few days before the 'release' and then send out an unlock code. Then at least we wouldn't be about to crush their d/l servers with an international wave of mad downloading.

That wouldn't be possible, because they work on the game all the way up until release. It wasn't ready a few days ago. They were still testing yesterday.

What's with '/connect irc.quakenet.org:6667 | -j #ToTSN' ? Is this somewhere we can all chat? Forgive my ignorance but I come from a time when computers had cassette decks attached them and it took 15 minutes to load a game!

That's a place where we all can chat. It's a IRC server and you need to use a application which can connect to irc-servers to be able to chat there. So go ahead and download mIRC or anything that works like that app.
It seems like many of you people are just sitting at home waiting.
Us "adults" are sitting in our offices waiting until an appropriate time to say we need to leave early.
