Interesting phenomenon. Input or network latency? ^^
  • edited July 2009
    Not internet, the game.
  • edited July 2009
Lag is only technically relevant to online games. You're just experiencing slowdown.

Can you describe more completely what problems you're having?

Try lower resolutions or lower graphics settings...
  • edited July 2009
it would be helpful if you told us what specs youre computer hardware is ?, maybe youre computer is to slow, or maybe its a mouse problems?
  • edited July 2009
Well, when I move the cursor it doesn't go smoothly, lip movement is far off from the sound clips and I just noticed my inventory tab shows up as all black.

mine is having the same issue. Things just move incredibly slowly. I also have no arrows to navigate in the settings section and the settings changes dont show up when clicked.

I'm afraid lower resolutions didn't work and I don't know how to change the graphics setting.

I'm having the same problems. What hardware is required to run the game smoothly?
  • edited July 2009
The minimum specs are in here: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9486

I can't vouch for "smoothly" though.

My game was "laggy," too. I set the graphics setting low. The game crashed right after the main credits. I restarted the game, and suddenly everything was running perfectly. What can I tell you? If your game doesn't work immediately, I guess let it crash and restart :)
  • edited July 2009
Yep, lowering the resolution and the graphics detail in the game setup menu ought to fix this.
  • edited July 2009
If its anything like W&G, then you will have monster graphical slowdown on anything less than the minimum. If your specs are low enough (say, 1.6 ghz chip/1 gb of memory) then you will likely have spotty slowdown on the lowest setting, but it will at least be playable. Might try turning off some unnecessary background programs too.

I'm having the same problem...but can I access the settings menu mid game? I can't find the menu, or even any save/load options for mid game.
  • edited July 2009
OK I found the menu by pressing esc...the lowest resolution has helped the mouse lag a bit but it is still quite slow and jumpy and the speech is still off...and the menu items are still half in black so I can't see the inventory...gutted!!!!! Can't we go back to MI3 days...it didn't even cross my mind that a game like MI would need high specs...I was up half the night...I could cry!! :-( Now I've registered it on my laptop, is there any way I can download it to my desktop to try it on that isntead or will I have to pay again?
  • edited July 2009
Yes, you can download to your desktop and activate it with the same code.
  • edited July 2009
Yeah I had to change the graphics setting from 9 to 4 and it fixed this issue

My processor (2,2 Ghz) is barely above the minimum requirements (memory and other stuff fills the recommendations) and graphics run smoothly with maximum settings.

This actually surprised me, because I thought that I would have to drop the details to get game running smoothly.

So I'm happy that minimum actually means minimum to get game running smoothly and not minimum to get game running with lowest graphic settings and still suffering from slowdowns.

Mine runs way too slow to play properly.

Dropping the resolution to 640x480 and lowering the graphics quality to 1 allowed my to move the mouse in the menu without it being about 3 seconds behind me.
But the graphics are so juddery that I just can't play it.

My laptop is just at the minimum specs but it seems odd because all the other telltale games run fine on the laptop and the graphics I have seen in the trailers arent exactly next gen.

    Any other suggestions?
Specs for my somewhat dated lappy are below:

    System Model: LIFEBOOK S7110
    Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2500 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs)
    Memory: 2038MB RAM
Card name: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family
    Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
    Chip type: Intel(R) GMA 950
    Display Memory: 224.0 MB

Or am I stuck playing on my desktop? (assuming I can get it running in paralells)

    Yes.

Sorry, but Intel's integrated graphics chipsets (combined with them not even having their own video RAM) just don't cut it for playing games - especially so their mobile graphics chipsets used in laptops.

np: Cotti - Eat Dirt (Soul Jazz Records Singles 2008-2009 (Disc 3))

True, I have heard similar complains in other forums. People there complain why games don't work properly with their laptops, which use those Intel's integrated graphic chipsets. And those games are even less graphic heavy than Tales.

I got mines working with a lower spec processor and an onboard graphics.
Turned the graphics down to 1 and it worked.

Ok it cut out to a black screen a few times.
    Solution -
    press escape
    go make a coffee
    have a biscuit
    Use the WC :)
Come back and the pause screen should be there.
    Unpause and play :D

I had this problem doing the intro video. But after that everything ran very smoothly..

I also had to drop the graphics settings right down to stop the mouse lag.

hi, i'm also gagging to play this game, obviously, but my macbook is the oldest model with the rather terrible intel gma 950 chipset mentioned above. short of buying a new computer, my only other option might be to stick a better graphics card in my old desktop pc. it's currently rocking a fashionably retro geforce2 card from the year 2000, but if i were to put a newer card in it, do you reckon i could get tales running playably even tho the cpu is a creaky old athlon xp in the region of 1.8ghz?

I'm playing this on my laptop, and it has the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset too, but I can get it to play. I did lower the graphics quality to 1, and it does sometimes get a bit jerky when moving the mouse, but it's definitely playable. Which is good, since I don't have a desktop at my disposal right now to install it on!
