It's more fun in multiplayer, because all the players cover each others' backs but there's also a little bit of competition to be the last one standing. I had a hardcore world one or two years ago and got pretty far by being incredibly careful, but that gets tedious after a while.

How could anyone ever play in that mode? You fall out of a tree you die half the time
I play in it, but i get so frustrated in hardcore mode, i rage quit every time.
