Why Only Wide Screen?

First, love the game. It's so great to be playing Monkey Island again. Thanks you so Much Telltale.

My only gripe is, unless I'm being stupid, why is the game only presented in wide screen? S&M season 1 the only other teltale game I've played, was a full screen game but when I run TOMI I get black bars at the top and bottom of my screen. I presume this is intentional as all the screen shots and trailers I've seen are in wide screen too. I can't for the life of me find a way to show the game in full screen even though the screen resolution in the option screen show as 1024 x 768?

Am I being dumb? I hope so as I find not being able to see these gorgeous graphics in full screen annoying. Can anyone help me out here.

I guess due to avoiding scaling issues and so streching or shortening characters and what you could see of a scene.

What i found pretty strange is that the fonts get scaled differently when you're zooming the menu in and out. They obviously aren't part of the frame and get scaled independently.

I played it in full screen 4:3. Check the icon next to the res you're selecting to make sure it's the aspect you want.

Hmm I dont remember seeing and Icon for selecting the aspect ration. I am probably just being blind or stupid. :D I'll check when I get home tonight.

    Many Thanks.

There is no icon for switching between 4:3 and 16:9, and according to the icons next to the resolution sizes the game goes letterbox in 4:3 format resolutions.

I played on a wide screen monitor and still had the widescreen bars on the top and bottom, (then again my monitor is actually 16:10 so they probably added the bars to make it a full 16:9) honestly though, I'd much prefer the game be in widescreen, it gives it a more cinematic feel.

Yeah, I was playing at 1680x1050, which is 16:10, and there were black bars. Wasn't a big deal really, but if you're playing at a low resolution I could imagine it might be annoying.

Same here, it's slightly letterboxed on my 16:10 ratio screen, even on the 16:10 resolutions.

I'm a little bit miffed about the forced widescreen again, it's not a huge issue but It does suck that around only 1/4 of my screen is being used.

See, it might seem that way, but you're not missing anything. If you were playing in letterbox, your view area would be less than that of someone using widescreen. When widescreen is forced on letterbox, it's scaled down to fit.

I was playing on 16:10 too and didn't notice it until i read it here :-D Must have been because i have 1920x1200 on a 24" screen so there were a lot of pixels used anyway :D

Oh well, looks like I'm stuck with the letterbox then. :( Such a shame as I love the game but this is like having a rather nasty mole on the face of a beautiful woman. She's still dam beautiful but all you can look at through dinner is the mole. :D
