Well, that's very rude of him to not consider looking for and thusly returning your belongings, I cherish my copy of Monkey Island Madness.

    Keelhaul the bastard.

And Monkey Madness (MI1 and MI2 right?) wasn't very good. It had both games, but MI2 lacked sound and MI1 didn't have all the music.

But is this forum really the place for social squabbles?

Yeah... I don't care if someone likes MI or not but i always get pissed when it's because of the graphics... Especially since i do think they're among the best ever ! (okay, they're obviously dated, but design counts more than technics, morons).

I have some friends who never got to play the games as well, because of the graphics... i dunno, i wouldn't mind em telling me they're tried and it and didn't like it, i just think it's sad they step back for THIS reason. But oh well, they just don't know what they're missin :D

    ...
    ?

Is this specific to that box set? MI2 had sound, definitely!
If it's not working out for you on a modern system, try running it through SCUMMVM. Works fine for me on Vista that way ^_^

    MI1 and MI2 sucked?!?
    Screw that guy!!!

Lol. MI2 absolutely had sound, you just had to run it with command line parameters:
    monkey2.exe /?

Will give you a list of parameters that you can run with the game. This for instance:
    monkey2.exe s

Will start the game with Sound Blaster sound support. And MI1 had more music than the disk version. Know your stuff before you go making assumptions.

I thought this was the issue too, turns out it's just the coding on this CD-rom is poor. I recently had to replay MI2 with sound for the first time after I found out running it through dosbox lets you hear the sound.

Monkey Island can't be very good, because the graphics are not very good and you don't get to shoot aliens.

The only thing wrong with that conversation is the disgusting lack of good grammar.

Lol, yeah you guys can't play old DOS games on a WinXP/Vista system. Windows doesn't support DOS games anymore. You NEED DOSBox. It's nothing to do with poor release of the CD. The CD was fine and works flawlessly on a DOS computer.

I'll use Queensryche's Dr X's words to explain you what to do:
"Kill him, that's all you have to do."
(from "Suite Sister Mary", Operation: Mindcrime album, 1988)
