Tales From the Borderlands Season Pass

I have purchased the season pass around Christmas time and have played Episode 1-3. I finished Episode 3 and since a week ago I cannot launch the game. I own the Season Pass for Episode 2-5 and even though I have played and owned Episode 1 it now says I don't own it and I cannot launch the game at all. I am not for sure if this is a problem on Microsoft's end or yours but I hope their is some solution for it.

My apologies, we have received a few reports from players on Xbox One experiencing this particular issue. Could you please clarify exactly which version of the game you purchased from the following options:

    • Purchased episodes individually
    • Never purchased Episode 1, but did purchase the Season Pass
    • Purchased Episode 1 individually, then purchased the Season Pass to access Episodes 2-5
    • Purchased the Complete Season bundle to access Episodes 1-5
    • Purchased the Telltale Collection bundle, which includes the Season Pass

Please also confirm what your Xbox gamertag is and what region/country you are currently located in.

Then if you can, please check your purchase history on the Xbox Support Website using your web browser and see what is listed for Tales from the Borderlands in your Purchase History.

I purchased the Season Pass to access Episodes 2-5 and Episode 1 individually. My Gamertag is Kingofdeath426 and I live in the United States.

I checked on the Xbox Support Website and it says all I have purchased is the TALES FROM THE BORDERLANDS - SEASON PASS

  • I have exactly the same problem as Doctor Thanatos. I purchased the Season Pass, played episodes 1 and 2 a little ago, and when I was going to play episode 3 the same problem happened. My gamertag is RiskierTomcat20 and I live in Brazil.

Thank you both for providing the extra information, I will make sure to pass it along to the team! Could either of you possibly clarify when exactly you purchased Episode 1 and the Season Pass? Was it possibly last year, in December? Or more recently?

  • I purchased a little after episode 3 was released, at the first week of July.

  • No, it says that if I have the game in a disc I should put it on the console and if I have it downloaded I should login my account. The thing is: I'm already logged in the account that I have downloaded the game and the message continues to appear. :/ very frustrating.

  • I bought Episode 1 and the season pass back in December of 2014 while there was a sale on the game.

It also tells me to put a game disc in or login.

I to have this exact issue. When I tried to start the game to replay episode 3 I got an error that says I must insert the game disk. I contacted Xbox support (Xbox One). They had me remove and reinstall the game. It allows me to install season 2-5 but not episode 1. It asks me to repurchase episode 1. When I install season pass 2-5 it doesn't display the game in the "My Games" xbox screen. Xbox support directed me to you.

I purchased the season 2-5 pass on 12/31/14. I already had episode 1, I'm not sure of the exact purchase date or if you were doing a free play of the game? If I purchases it would have been in December 2014.

Thank you for the extra information. I have already passed it along to the team! We are still currently working on resolving this issue for everyone, and when I receive any news I will make sure to update you guys here.

We are still looking into the Season Pass issue where in-game it asks you to purchase it, even though you already own it. Please note that your Xbox Live account should still own the Season Pass regardless of that menu's messaging, and you WILL be able to download Episodes 4 and 5 when they become available just as 2 and 3.

If you have still not received your Exclusive Loot/Unlocks, please make sure that you have started both games while connected to the internet to ensure they are both updated to the latest version, and if you check your SHiFT account, as well as the SHiFT Vending Machine in Concordia in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and your loot is still not appearing, I recommend contacting Gearbox Support directly for further assistance with your loot not unlocking.

If you've purchased the Season Pass, you should have access to all available episodes from in-game after updating the game to the latest version. If you have still not received your unlocks/loot, and you meet the requirements to receive the loot but you still have not received them, I recommend contacting Gearbox Support directly for further assistance with your loot not unlocking.

The Season Pass for Tales From The Borderlands for Xbox One was set up differently, and is tied to your account. There will not be a download file associated with the Season Pass. We are, however, looking into the issue that it still says 'Buy Now' in-game instead of 'Purchased' on the Episodes Menu, but this should not stop you from downloading the later episodes as they release.

Episodes 2-5 are Downloadable Content (DLC) for the base game (Episode 1) and Episode 1 is required in order to have access to Episodes 2 and 3. Your issue with Episode 1 asking for the disc version is different from @strwar3's, and we are currently working with Microsoft to get the particular issue resolved.
