Bug Reports (Spoilers)

edited July 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Hi guys,

AWESOME job on the game! I'd like to report a really big bug that while not "game breaking" does affect gameplay.

When I got the Unbreakable Bottle from the Voodoo Lady I immediately went to the Glassblower Pirate who flaunted his Glass Breaking shell but wouldn't let me use it. Ideally the player goes to the boat, fires the cannonball, breaks the unicorns, guy goes back in the house and player steals the shell.

However, I asked the guy to break it for me and he wouldn't do it free of charge; then tried handing him the bottle and again he wouldn't do it; I tried stealing the shell and saw a little cut-scene where Guybrush distracts the guy, tries to steal the shell but gets caught, HOWEVER:

I grabbed the bottle from my inventory, used it with the shell while it was still in the stool and saw the cut-scene again of Guybrush distracting the guy and getting caught, but this time, after the cut-scene, Guybrush had the shell in his mouth with the bottle in the end and was able to break it WITHOUT stealing the shell first. Afterwards, the shell was in my inventory and there was a 2nd one still sitting on the stool.

It wasn't until much later that I jumped on the ship for the first time, shot the cannons, destroyed the Unicorns and realize how the puzzle was really meant to be solved.

Just a heads up to the developers :)

I guess people can use this thread to report other gameplay bugs like that, if there are any.

Lol, when trapped in the lab chair, if you face toward the camera and look at the door DeSirge went into Guybrush goes googly-eyed.

Pretty funny, actually. Don't fix it.

You can solve the cheese idol by turning the idol axis before putting the cheese in ... supposedly the puzzle involves the prison otherwise.

Apart, in "la esponja grande" esponja is pronounced esponHa, not esponYa like they do... nothing terrible but hurts a bit in the ears.

I didn't notice it myself, but I suppose this is about Guybrush always looking at the hotspot that your mouse is currently over.
However, when he's tied to the chair in the lab, he can not move his head so he only moves his eyes.
So what happens when the hotspot is BEHIND guybrush and he can't turn?

Talking about pronounciation, it feels a bit weird when everyone in the game refers to DeSinge with French (and correct) pronounciation, but Dominic pronounces him English.
Obviously a recording problem, but tbh, especially with names the audio director should be very careful how the actors pronounce it.

I would merge this thread with this one:

    http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9757&highlight=bugs

I encountered a couple of the bugs listed there (skipping dialogue makes the subtitle skip to the next line, but the dialogue continues and ends abruptly), the accent problem with the El Pollo Diablo book, and the launcher one (I suspect this one has more to do with the site having problems yesterday, as I didn't encounter it today).

Also, there were a couple of times where I didn't heard the audio for the mechanical bird said "I am Guybrush...etc" when it was supposed too.

I encountered that bug as well. Merge away mods! So many threads it's hard to keep track of all of them!

Honestly, I think that's more of a character flaw of Guybrush, he's inept, so it makes sense that he'd get names wrong.

When he reads them, then yes.
But when other people say "DeSinge" in French, the only thing he could say would be "DeSunge" if he doesn't care about proper pronounciation, not Singe with an i.

Also in some scenes the wind sound is suddenly so loud you cant hear music or voice.
