Help! Can't get the game to work

I have Windows Vista, a 2ghz processor, 2gb of memory and 128mb graphics. I should be able to play the game with no problems (I can play other Telltale games such as Sam and Max or Wallace and Gromit without problems, as well as other video games such as World of Warcraft and Guild Wars). But the sound is out of sync with the action, and sometimes it sticks and the sound repeats itself, plus the cursor moves so slowly it's impossible to play the game. I move the mouse and the cursor follows a few seconds later, it's literally impossible to move the cursor precisely or to position it with any accuracy. So I basically can't play the game :(

I persevered through the initial cut scene in the hope that things would improve once I got into the game itself, but it's still the same. I'm so sad I can't play the game. Can anyone help?

just the obvious, which I assume you've tried, lowering the resolution and graphical quality in the options menu?

I also have Windows Vista and when I go onto the game, it takes an age to start up and half the words are just fuzzy blocks. Also there's no visible curser anywhere O_o I've had no problem playing any other telltale games and I've tried lowering the resoloution. Help!

    Where is this options menu?

Tjek out your memory consumption in taskmanager. If you are running webbrowsers, torrent clients, skinning programs or antivirus (or other programs that use a fair amount of memory) try turning them off to free up resources.

It appears in the menu when you start the game and select "Settings", or during game play when you press Esc to bring up the menu.

That menu didn't give me any quality options. The only three I saw were "hint frequency", "pop up text" and "subtitles".

It says "Gameplay Settings" at the top, and there's two arrows to the left and right of it. Click on those to get to the sound and video options. (see attachment)
