Chapter 1 (share your toughts)
Well, I finally came to the end of chapter 1.
Clues I got stuck on:
-Cheese eye print (after 2h, I used the hints in this forum)
-Cloth line (it never accured to me to click on the cloth line without using the wheel, used the hints as well).
Was I too fast or was the clues easier than the other MI's?
Very enjoyable but I hope the others will have more of a challenge.

as for myself I spend about 3 hours on this game and didn't use any hints. The games difficulty was quite fair though I hope for harder puzzles.
I did get stuck at the ancient gate... but after a GH4 session it cleared my mind enough so when I got back I did get by it fairly easy.
By the way, I didn't JUST go and look up for hints.... anyways!
I feel kinda lame now. I've been waiting forever for this game and I beat the first part in a few hours. Now I have to wait another month for the next part. This "cutting the game into chapters that we release each month" thing is nonsense!
The reason why I knew about the cloth line was because I remembered seeing it on a demonstration on the game from a while back. Not by cheating. :P
But the game was great.
Maybe, i'd like to see some greater challenges when it comes to solving puzzles.
I found myself at times wanting to get stuck, just to play a little longer.
For me, it felt a little short maybe 'cause i had lots of fun playing it.
haha, well you know when you're stuck and you feel like you've done everything twice, it always helps putting the game aside for a few moments and then come back with a clear head (head-b-clear = GH for me )
Ditto. At one point, I thought maybe I should use the bird's feet to make the proper "eyes" on the cheese. But the bird was already gone...:)
But, perseverance (and 3 beer-drinking guys' combined intellect) paid off in the end!
Great episode, had me scratching my head viciously on occasion, and I can't wait for the next one!
Who do you think the sword-wielding female at the end is, guys? An appearance by the Sword Master of Melee Island, maybe, or is that too obvious?:)
I enjoyed it, but harder puzzles would be nice! The game would last longer.
And I also thought in the first place that the woman in the end can be Carla the Sword Master, but I don't know.
I now realized that she can be Kate Capsize, who wants revenge for being put into prison
I lurve The Marquis De Singe laboratory puzzle/scene. It's simple, yet elegant. Reminded me somewhat of Grim Fandango too. Wished the hand puzzle could be a little bit more sophisticated though.
The challenging of the game is probably a bit 'meh', but I never associated hard puzzle with MI. Nice lines and plenty of laughs, that was what I was looking for. And man! The first chapter sure didn't disappoint.
Overall, not that tough, but I hate waiting for another game. What if the sword lady is Carla?
Has anyone replayed any other favorite parts of the game?
I replayed the map parts for four time straight to see the ways hand teases Guybrush when he is idling and to view the ending credits.
Forgotten to save before the lab puzzle, 'else I would have returned to replay that as well. Leave it for this weekends perhaps. :P
About the ending, I have a strange feeling that it's Largo LaGrande? I don't remember the brief conversation in the end of the episode, but do they reveal that the mysterious character is actually female ? Or are you guys implying that because of the squeaky voice? I always imagined Largo's voice would be squeaky because it would not match with his bully and bossy personality :P
I kept thinking that I had to let the fuse run down on the mini-bomb before turning the crank. It did not occur to me until later that climbing the clothesline would result in the pants being cranked upward by Winslow himself.
As for the cheese eyebrow print, I had this crazy idea of cutting a pirate's eyebrows off. It didn't pan out.
Just one thing I would like to get after all of the chapters are released: A patch to implement a German Text AND audio version. Would be amazing.
I have only one complaint, really : it's that two of the game puzzles are about finding your path in the jungle. I liked it, though. It just seemed recycled.
For nitpicking's sake, I also disliked
I Only really got stuck twice..... Once with the stupid clothes line.... had the bomb in the pants but didnt know u could climb onto it.... and also breaking the gem at the ancient doorway
Thought the game was really shit at the beginning and wanted my money back.... i didnt know how to walk around.... didnt like the boat scene.... mouse pointer was delayed.... screen wasnt the right resolution but sorted it out and once on the island it gets good
Only complaint is that i couldnt turn my volume up enough - voices needed to be louder and it was at max on my laptop and in game setings
Still good 1st installment!
Im glad now these games are in chapters.... now i can get back on with my life...till next month!
Too true. It was early morning here when I read my email telling me the game is available for download. It was 5:30 AM and I got up to go to work, I took a quick shower while downloading, then I played until the very last minute so I could still catch my train to work.
As soon as I got there, I installed on a laptop here (I'm a system administrator) and did nothing else but play the whole time.
I was stuck at the jungle when I returned home and luckily (:D) my girlfriend was still asleep and I managed to play through it before she woke up. Wouldn't know what I had done if she were awake, haha
There's only one thing that bothers me........Guybrush often doesn't say the phrases I select. I mean...it's not a problem when the speach is slightly different then the writen sentence you select....but the meaning should be the same I think.
Is this a bug or intentional?
Should be intentional. It was a gag used in the Secret of Monkey Island, where Guybrush just couldn't say what he wanted in a conversation with Elaine. Occurred a number of occasions on the other episodes. But must say this is the first time this gag is used so extensively.
Hmmmm, yes I know those gags from the old MI games....but I couldn't see the 'gag' in this occasions
Well....hope they don't do this too often.
The only time I got real stuck [and looked up a hint on here] was with the Cheese-Eye Print. Afterwards I was like 'doh!'
In short, cracking humour, animations, visuals and puzzles - I can't for the second chapter!
What do you mean ?
However liked the game overall, just didn't realize from the beginning that I could use keyboard to move instead of click and drag and wasted time there XD
Way to go Telltale and thanks again for bringing back MI
cya
I've liked the humor, overall, still on key with the previous games. If Stan is used in one of the next episodes, I really hope they got the guy from CMI instead of EMI. That voice was just how I pictured it.
Only oddity I found about the chapter was that pair of pink underwear that Guybrush complimented if you look at it. Has he lost his fear of pink? I noticed he still has his fear of porcelain.
Overall, good chapter with good humor, but rather weak on the puzzle-solving aspects, in my opinion.
I don't remember any reference to the color pink in the older games but I did play through Monkey Island 4 2 minutes before Tales of Monkey Island came out so I do remember that one quite good In Monkey Island 4 Guybrush didn't fear pink, he just didn't like it, like most men don't since it's not a manly color (personally I prefer purple, it's like a manly shade of pink), so you can think of what Guybrush says about the pink underwear as sarcasm. He just mocks the big pirate who's name I just forgot.
There were far more locations than I was expecting, and it all just felt really fleshed out and fully realised for an episodic game. It definately looks, sounds, and feels like a monkey island game.
If I was nit picking I'd say some of the supporting cast of the island were a bit forgettable and the puzzles were a bit on the easy side. Apart from being stumped for a bit on the bomb puzzle I breezed through the rest of it. But still they were well designed and enjoyable.
Overall TT did a fantastic job and have raised the bar pretty high for the next four episodes. I just hope they can consistently reach such a high standard and avoid filler episodes and recycled locations.
Good job TT :-)
Yeah, I don't think many people will be begging to see those characters again but I think we're going to meet a lot of interesting folk throughout the next four episodes!
Well yeah, he never had a fear of pink per se, but I still wanted a repeat of MI4's 'It's...pink'.
