I am not Telltale staff and i don't subscribe to any update emails myself so i don't know exactly what updates they normally publish but i think it might be a bit too early for Story Mode email updates at the moment, they will likely send out emails when episodes get released so for now i recommend keeping en eye on Telltale's Twitter, Facebook or Blog or even the forum for news and updates with the best thread to watch being the Minecraft Story Mode Waiting Thread.
