The consensus seems to be.....

overwhelmingly positive.

That must be a real buzz for Telltale and I'm really happy for them. They deserve it.

There are so many things that I look forward to, books, movies, games etc and only a select few turn out to be genuinely, honestly good or great. And the consensus here seems to be good to great.

I suppose it is total nerdage to be so elated about Tales of MI, but I don't care. I was travelling to Dublin from Glasgow for some work yesterday and I was checking my blackberry regularly just to see how it was going down.

Great times for the whole MI and adventure community. It's been a long time coming and I hope we all enjoy every second.

Cheers everybody!

And let's all send a High Five to Telltale for making it a reality! :D

I'm pleased with the game, but if you go by this forum, "overwhelmingly positive" wouldn't be the right term to use. Most people like it, but there are a few sore points for a lot of people here.

Meh people always need something to nag about

What I'm curious about, is the reaction of Telltale.
Are your expectations met? Surprising reactions?

This poll seems overwhelmingly positive. And I'd guess it's overwhelmingly MI fans who have voted.

The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive though, and lets be honest, a lot of the complaints on this forum, while some have been legitimate complaints, most have been nitpicking trivial things.

I disagree. Most complaints have been perfectly valid. The main problem is how some people (the minority, remember) state the complaints. You can be an immature jerk about something and still have a valid point underneath it all.

I'm in for some of that.
    *High Five*

It was a resounding success, I'm very greatful to Telltale for releasing a noble addition to the series.

So complaints about how the episodic nature is wrecking the franchise is valid?
Is the spelling of a German phrase on a flag in any way integral to the enjoyment of the game?
I agree that the tech issues are valid, but there is a lot of stupid crap flying round here at the minute.

Yeah, that IS bad, but that's only one complaint, and the worst example to boot. It doesn't prove that most of the other criticisms are stupid.

Seriously, just have a read through some of this forum.

The complaints on this board are the very definition of a vocal minority. Heck, most of them are by the same handful of posters posting the same complaints over and over in different places.

Was the game perfect? No. Did it meet/exceed the Monkey Island games that came before it? Absolutely.

Telltale continues their streak as the Most Consistent Game Company. In my opinion, since Sam & Max Season 1, they've never made a bad game...not all have been jaw-droppingly great, but not one could be considered "low quality".

I have, and I fail to see any complaints that are too terrible. You aren't backing up your statement very well.

(concerning the flag of Flotsam island)

That must be the most sorry attempt to translate an english sentence into german i have ever seen.

It's so bad that it's not even funny bad anymore. Any free online sentence translator could do it better than this word by word translation.

Not only the total disregard of all grammar, or the miss-spelling of one out of four german 3-4 letter words but also the fact that the saying even translated correctly doesn't make any sense to start with.

Just out of curiosity, why did you have to go for "German" on that flag if you don't even have the resources to type the sentence into babelfish.

All in all I wasn't so much disappointed with the game itself, rather than the shortness of the episode. After all, there was a lot of fuzz in regards to the release.. And I now have to wait a full month to continue? What's the point of that?

It seems to me like the one episode-per-month release plan was something you did in order to buy time to continue coding the game. Which in my oppinion is a bad thing. I will now have to endure the frustration of waiting to see what happens next for nearly 6 months.. And for what?

Does anyone else not have this in fullscreen????
For me its basically letter-boxed top and bottom and left and right (so basically 80% of fullscreen.

    How do i get fullscreen???

    I dont get it!!!

I've played the demo and I don't regret not having bought the Special Bonus Package. I won't buy the game at all.

    - the control system is worse than in Monkey Island 4
    - I don't recognize the good old Monkey Island humor
    - the games environment looks very poor (they should have gone back to 2d)
    - last but not least: online activation sucks

I wouldn't play this game if it was for free!
goodbye Monkey Island *wipes a tear*

Is all that enough? The last one especially is just so full of crap. The others are basically gripping at things that have already had the reason why explained multiple times or are just pointless. I think I've given enough examples there.

    consensus five...

according to the poll here most people like it - 90% out of the 306 people who voted said it was either very good or outstanding 9% said it was ok and the remaing 1% (like 3 people) said they didnt like it. i think thats more proof that the general consesus is that the game is liked rather than disliked.

There will always be a vocal minority that whine about everything

    Fine points Stemot. I concede.

Don't think that those who complain didn't like the game. I love it! But that's the very reason I'm complaining: I want it to be perfect, because I care.

If "annoyed with the constant sound of the wind" on a fantasy island with a issue regarding freak winds is all TGG has to worry about I think they will sleep easy.

Yeah, it's for like most of 1/5 of the series, unthinkable I know.

Hell, maybe they wanted it to be slightly irritating - to remind you that you really really want to get off this stupid island to save your wife, kick some lechuck butt and chew some bubblegum, and that THIS WIND IS THE REASON FOR ALL THIS TROUBLE!
