Why do people think Carver is a good guy?
I keep seeing people try to defend Carver, like theres still some chance hes a good guy. But he isn't, hes already shown us that. I don't give a shit if he thinks we'll be safer at his camp, or what the cabin group did to him, or any of that shit, because it isn't an excuse to start abducting people against their will, not to mention murdering Walter, who had nothing to do with his vendetta. How is this not enough to convince people hes just an asshole on a power trip?
To be clear, I like Carver the character and can't wait to experience more of his douchebaggery. But he IS a douchebag, theres no acceptable reason to do the things hes done. I'm interested to know if people actually like him or just the character, and why?

I like the idea of a game governor, who is way more interesting than the original one so far.
I like Carver's character, he's a prick, but a prick that knows how to get respect and make people fear him.
But I hate his guts for Alvin and Walter
Carver cannot be a good guy. Michael Madsen does his voice and Madsen is rarely a good guy in movies. lol
Carver isn't a good guy, but that doesn't mean he can't have redeeming qualities.
For example, he is willing to do ANYTHING to make sure his (I know we don't know for sure, but he thinks its his) unborn child is safe (in his opinion).
Good answer, thanks. I can go along with that.
He's a bad guy, definitely. The hostage scene, him murdering Walter and (possibly) Alvin, torturing Carlos in front of his daughter, who was screaming and crying for him to stop hurting her dad, and the way he acts towards the cabin group confirms that he's a ruthless prick. He pistol whipped a child. Don't know how you can possibly defend any of that. Yes, he has 'eye for an eye' morals, but that isn't exactly something to be commended anyways. Murder is inexcusable.
My guess as to why people like and defend him? I think people want him to be different than your average despot, with redeeming qualities. The villainous dictator trope been pretty overused in games, not to mention it's a bit unrealistic that a person could be 100% evil all the time.
It's.. nice? I suppose that he'd go to such lengths to keep his unborn child safe, but he has no consideration for the will of the mother, Rebecca. And even though it hasn't been confirmed yet, I wouldn't be surprised if their relations weren't consensual. I hope it's not true, but Rebecca seems to despise him, and so far no reason has been given to why she would ever associate with a man like him, so.
Just my two cents.
Agreed. I guess I was under the impression people were actually justifying what hes done, but it seems they just appreciate his complexity. I'm in the same boat.
I literally subscribed to this forum to complain about what a colossal failure the whole premise of episode 3 is. Carver is completely and 100% a good guy. It is literally the zombie apocalypse, and when he beats Kenny (who he does NOT kill) it is literally after he's caught them literally planning the destruction of the settlement. Clementine and her group are the bad guys in this episode.
I hated this episode. It was the most flimsy moralizing I've seen since the pathetic scene in borderlands 2 where Handsome Jack tries to make you feel like you're doing the wrong thing by killing angel.
Honestly the worst in the series so far. I'm so incensed I don't know if I want to continue. There was a way to do this properly, and they failed at it spectacularly.
Carver is love, Carver is life.
I do know he's a piece of trash, though.
Lots of necrobumping today huh?
He had a mustache so he couldn't be all bad.
Woah, hold your horses for a second here. I've seen people talking shit about Episode 3 over and over again, and it's just unfair on so many levels. In my opinion, "In Harm's Way" was great, the best of S2. No need to call it a failure because you didn't like it.
Dont compare Carver to governor. Carver wanted to keep his group strong, while governer was just a freak. I understand why Carver did that all, not that i agree on everything he did.
Carvers a nice guy.... Shooting guys in the head, hitting children, throwing guys off roofs and bashing a guy until he looses his eye.. Yea im sure he's a nice guy.
I love Carver´s character, but a good guy? ...lol no.
You can't be complete garbage when you have a mustache. Having one means you were personally approved by Kenny. Therefore, you're better than mediocre.
Carver is love, Carver is life.
But he gave them toothbrushes once... Except for Luke. Maybe Rebecca took extra one for the baby.
when he called my Clementine Sweetie, she started to crush hard on his sexy voice. He is a good guy, he is just as crazy as Kenny/Jane. He was just helping Reggie down because he had to use the bathroom, and well he had to go quick, so he showed him the shortcut.
You fail to see that, if not for Bonnie, Carver would have killed Kenny rigth there. You fail to see that dude is so fucking nuts he persues the Cabin Group for Rebecca´s fucking baby, off the chance it could be his baby because he raped her. You fail to see that he kills Reggie because two children couldn´t finish a fucking chore. You fail to see a lot of things.
Carver is a softy at heart. Walter antagonized him, i mean he started crying, snotting on his coat.. I would have done the same.
I liked Carver and I hated Troy... he's a pedo
Carlos voice
Walter is a dangerous man.
Nick's voice doing Carlos voice.
"You have no idea who you are deelin with!"
Carlos voice
If my dotter had any idea she would cease to funkshun.
Yeah lol, i laughed so hard when he said that line.
Carver is a good man. With strong Mormon values, he believes in Joseph Smith.
Kenny: "What the FUCK are you two doing in here?"
Nick doing Carlos's voice to Kenny.
""I am pooooiinting out that, regardlessssss of in tent, there are consequences to rash action ssssssssssss. Something that he seems to be misreading as capitulation."
His voice is HOT. That's all I can say about Carver.
Kenny voice
I don´t know what the fuck you´re saying but I know it´s bullshit!
I didn't know that 6 months and 3 Episodes ago :P
You get the idea what Carver is like in 2nd episode (and teaser for 3rd episode). Carver was just like Crawford. They set up rules and if you obey them, you have a place. If you fail to pull your own weight, you get kicked out/killed.
We don't know if he was a good guy before the apocalypse, but...
After hitting Carlos several times, broke 2 of his fingers in front of his daughter, murdered Walter and Alvin (Determinant), pistol whipped Clem and then pointing a gun at her face (Determinant, then slapped Clem (Determinant) and making Carlos hit his own daughter and saying Clem would get a slap too if she didn't shut up, after that he murdered Reggie because of some berries, and then he beat down Luke and Kenny, and pointed a gun at the rest of the group and would put a bullet in the baby if they would leave with his child again.
-So, he was not a good guy after the apocalypse.
Kenny was good man at start of the apocalypse. Look at what he became... Za changes people.
Yea, but Kenny is still a good guy. He's trying to protect the last things he's got, and that's Clem and AJ, so he will kill people to keep them save, and he was willing to starve to death for them, so i would say that Kenny still is a good guy.
His anger issues and irrational behaviour causes too many trouble imo, so i shot him.
