Anyone Else Pissed About ****'s Story? "I got lucky"

  • Can you stop over exaggerating there not asking for a full detail on what happened
They're asking just for something other than I got lucky
They know it'll probably be explained in the next episode
IMO I don't care how he got out as long as he's still alive

What did you expect him to say? Well after the first walker attacked me I dodged it at a 360 Degrees Angel. After that, I rolled under the s

  • I'm glad he's back, but I hope he talks more in later episodes or, even better, we get a Kenny DLC starting in the alley/building. In the building "death scene" didn't seem too far fetched, Kenny just needed to be fast and agile. However, he seemed completely fucked in the alley. There are ways he could've lived, yet they are unlikely and would require Kenny to get lucky... really lucky. But, honestly, if fanfics can think of a million ways Kenny could make it, I assume TTG can give us a satisfactory explanation.

Maybe there will be a Kenny prequel dlc of season 2. Im still wondering how the hell he got through all those zombies barehanded with 2 bullets.

  • I knew there would be. :p

  • Well, I read somewhere on here that Gavin Hammon said we would learn more about Kenny's story in episode 3. Perhaps the reason Kenny's explanation was vague is not so much a Telltale cop-out as it was simply an aspect of his personality we've all witnessed in the past: he doesn't like to talk about painful experiences. After he lost Duck and Katjaa, he suppressed his grief and refused to confide in anyone, only focusing on his obsessive mission to find a boat. I think it's interesting that people judge him so harshly after episode 3 in season 1 (yeah, he was kind of a douche if you didn't help saltlick Larry, but I guess I can understand his reasoning for that as well seeing as it was an enormously horrifying decision to make under any circumstances. If my best friend didn't support me there, I admit I'd feel pretty resentful and alone.) because he lashed out constantly, behaved selfishly, and had zero patience for anybody or anything. (Exacerbated if Lee, you know, continued to not "have his back.") I think a lot of players might not realize that he was going through the stages of grief. He was ANGRY and bitter over the very recent deaths of his family. Coupled with the extreme stress inflicted by the uh...walking dead, the ugly shadow functions of his personality emerged. I commend the writers for depicting a realistic portrayal of a character who was just very human.

Wow. Anyway, I digress. If it means anything, Clem was kind of vague about her past as well as she spoke to him. We were even given the option to tell Kenny we didn't want to talk about it. WE knew her story, but he didn't. After going two years without seeing someone who was presumably dead, I didn't see it as too unusual that details were spared during the first conversation. Once Kenny and Clem have gotten past the polite formalities of their first encounter, I'm assuming he will open up to her when they have that downtime we saw in the new trailer. Clearly, from the glimpse I've seen, Kenny has dropped any pretenses and is comfortable enough with Clem that he can be his "old self," for better or for worse. Lol. So I wouldn't worry too much. If nothing comes to light in the next episode, then I'll be pissed. Haha.

  • Ahem....

    Whatever...

  • It really was a mixture of feelings when I saw Kenny (TWD spoiled it for me though, I was looking for something related to Kenny in the Wiki, then I saw that he had a beard, so I kinda expected him to be in Season 2). I kinda liked to see him again, altough I really hated his guts for being such an hypocrite and egotistical character, but it felt cheap at the same time, like bringing back Kenny so just the old kenny fanboys were pleased, nothing wrong with it though, but would like to hear a better explanation on how he survived. Found it funny on how he went to his old personality when he found Clem.

  • Not really I mean we haven't got through the season yet so there's still time for Kenny to talk some more about how he escaped basically I'm waiting and seeing.

  • I loved having Kenny back. He was my bro in Season 1, and seeing him alive made my day.

But I agree, "I got lucky" was a total cop out. I was expecting something more when he explained how he survived, and was really disappointed with his simple hand wave. It's not an explanation at all. This is one of my only two complaints about the Episode. It's as if they didn't put any thought into how he survived at all. Hopefully we'll learn how he managed to escape both scenarios in Episode 3. If so, I'll be willing to look past this so long as the explanation is good. If not... well...

I agree. In that situation, the "I got lucky" explanation worked for the character (because Kenny was reluctant to talk about his past, as further confirmed by Sarita).

But, we still have three episodes to go, and as time goes on, I'm sure Sarita is going to get more concerned about Kenny, and continue to wonder about his past (especially with Clementine there). So I'm sure Kenny will tell the full story to her before the season's over.

  • I'd be lying if I said Kenny's explanation didn't bug me a bit as well. Still, we have 3 more episodes to go. I believe Kenny will provide a detailed explanation as to how he escaped, right? Maybe in Carver's camp. From the looks of things, him and Clem are locked up somewhere.

  • My explanations:
    -there was a sewer nearby
-the zombies got Ben first and he got time to escape
-he found some sort of weapon in the garbage
    - he just ran past them

  • i agree there. all things considered, kenny really didn't seem that bad off, mentally, when we saw him go into impossible odds. reading between the lines that dont even exist, it sounds like he's tellin us "my mustache shielded me from the walkers, and i left town. rather than going for a boat like i spent the last 5 episodes telling everybody to do, i headed north cause it's cold. then i realized my family was dead and that i ditched all my friends, so i got really emo. then this strange lady found and helped me, so now i'm gonna take care of her, and i'll fuckin kill anyone that tries to hurt her. now, pass me the salt (lick), duck."

  • I was a little disappointed about his answer, but it is ok for now. I was just happy to see him again, i never expected him to be still alive.

Plot Twist : Maybe Kenny was bitten and thought he would die - but when he didn't, he realized that he is immune. :-P (nah - i don't really think so ;-) )

  • Actually come to think of it, has there ever been someone immune to the zombie bite before, ever the walking dead universe?

Does that mean that Telltale should bring him back, talk to Clem and say, "It was just a scratch"?

  • I agree: Telltale could have done a better job explaining, but maybe that IS how he got out: he just got really lucky. Granted he could have been more detailed, like "I pushed my way through the walkers and I got really lucky."
