About the "Shutting Down Turbine" thing..

I just wanted to bring a message, to all the people who found it silly how Clem was the only one who could shut down the turbine.

Part of the group looked at the situation, and people assume they were like "durr i don't know how keys work", when in reality, that's not the case, you know why? Because even though Carlos reacts like he doesn't know how to shut it down, you literally couldn't see anything in there, it was dark as hell.

Clementine was the only one who had a source of light, her lighter, which she used to see the key and the slot for it. Without it, she wouldn't see anything and thus, just like the group, she would have no idea what to do. I think that was logical, and it wasn't the battery moment of this season.

So, anyone has any arguments against my statement? Go ahead then. I'm up for an argument. Those are cool.

  • you have a point but I still think its silly. you would think carlos would of just said "I can't see anything does anyone have a lighter or flashlight?"

Uh, no. Carlos literally asked if anyone knew how to take care of it. Instead of, say, simply asking for a flashlight or something. It was a silly sequence; no need to go reaching for an explanation.

And for the record, I don't think most people consider that example a deal breaker for the episode/game but it kind of represents a larger problem with how the story is being written (to make Clem seem integral to everything).

  • To be fair, I wouldn't of known to use the key on the button irl, and if a girl whose proven to be above average says she knew how to do it, i wouldn't of questioned it.

  • ^ this. It was irritating and served only the purpose of making her seem more responsible. There was no logical explanation for it. All it truly did was make the adults look like monkeys.

But I had gotten over this stupid scene and was pushing it to the recesses of my mind..... until I saw this thread.

  • I felt that the wind turbine scene was strange as well, but in the back of my mind I also felt this entire season while extremely interesting with Clementine being in it. It will not be able to top its predecessor. You can just compare each episode to season one's episodes and you tell me which one is better each and every time. And I don't even have to wait until the rest of them are released out to know this. Season one was simply masterfully done and season two is simply additively interesting and not much more. Only slightly more interesting than that other series **"The Wolf Among Us" **TellTale is cooking up in tandem with this series It's still great, just unable to surpass its own original.

  • I feel like they meant to do more with that scene (like a puzzle) but decided not to due to

-time constraint when building the game
-realism(because maybe actual wind turbine do not work like puzzles.)

...I dont know man, if a little girl told me that she knew how to turn off wind turbine i would have been baffled like are you sure?? I guess it meant to be same way where a child quickly learns how to use a computer. Seriously It would have looked more realistic if Nick was doing it and Clementine helped him.

I will admit this is one of the few scenes in episode that made no sense and that even I have a hard time explaining in my head. For scenes like this I have a Special WTF category for them which include: Ben taking the hatchet, and yeah that's it so far I do believe.

  • The original cam never be beaten. Expectation alone will make that impossible. I think season two is rather great though, I wouldn't put it on the same level as TWAU :p

On the same level of good or bad?

  • Agreed...... season two is quite awesome, but at the same time I know it will not be winning near as many game of the year awards as season one did the other year. Season One just knocked me on my ass with how great it was, I wasn't prepared for such a impact of an awesome game. It was how I first got introduced to The Walking Dead universe. As I never even watched the show or read any comics until after playing the game. And I ended up playing Season One because I played Tell-Tales "Jurassic Park" game and said why not play Walking Dead too and just got blown away with the latter.

  • i posted this in the criticism topic, so i'll just copy the quote here.

"so, they ran out into the night without flashlights, and clem having a lighter on her person, which she usually keeps in her backpack, is what makes it ok for sarita and carlos to be oblivious? if there was something to figure out, then sure, but this?

sarita/carlos: holds up flashlight "oh, this requires a key. oh hey, it's right here." done. what's not to understand about a lock and key?"
