As for his family dying, that was the only time in the whole game where I came close to crying. During Lee's scene, I was weirdly smiling. I think it was the fact that something could make me feel that bad.
Yea I would've helped him with Larry if Clem and Lily weren't there, and damn I wanted to push him off the train so bad for leaving Lee under the door, until his family died.....

I completely agree. It was cool having Walt and Matthew, but they didn't have much time to develop their characters (and they never interact… moreed on screen), and so a lot of people see them as "that gay couple" rather than characters in their own right.
With Luke and Nick it would be different since we know both of the characters at this point, and as you said, we have an opinion on them already that wouldn't really change if they were revealed to be more than friends. And yeah, what Naughty Dog did was brilliant, with both Ellie and Bill.
