....Touche. One could argue Kenny does intelligent things sometimes too though.
I personally think shooting Carver is worth Alvin's life, even if the shot doesn't kill Carver. Though I didn't do it in my main playthrough for the sake of keeping people alive. xD

Leaving the bitten girl in the street as bait was a very smart idea, but morally wrong. If you go along with the idea, it benefits you greatly, proving it was a smart idea.
Kenny knew something was weird about the St Johns before anyone else did, though you could just call that intuition and not being smart if you want, I guess.
Making sure Larry was dead and didn't....come back was smart. Alive he was a detriment to the group's most valuable member and untrustworthy, and if he was dead then like Kenny said, it'd be bad to be trapped in a meat locker with a 300 pound pissed off dead guy.
Kenny knew they couldn't stay at the motor inn for ever, while Lilly just wanted to stay put. Kenny turned out to be right, something happened and luckily Kenny had an RV ready.
Stealing from the campman, again, was morally wrong, but a good decision....until campman decided to seek vengeance. Still, it was smart to steal supplies.
The boat was a great idea. Zombies apparently can't swim, so the boat would be a safe place as long as they had some way of getting food and water.
Also, if this counts for anything, I think Kenny's deserves some recognition for sticking with his group and not just giving up after his family died.
Overall, Kenny's an asshole very often, but he can be pretty smart too.
It's not necessarily smart. Most anyone could've thought of that, if morals were not their priority. That just proves he's a bad person, and nothing else.
He knew about the St Johns because he saw their shit, and saw them acting suspicious. That's common sense.
That wasn't smart. Because he could've held it over his head, just in case. Rather than not giving him a chance.
Just because he was right doesn't make him smart. Even the dumbest of people can be right. He didn't cite any evidence, he didn't really do anything that shows intelligence. And neither did Lilly. Kenny had an RV ready because he was about ready to leave everyone except Lee and Clem. Not smart. Others, like Doug, had been necessary for Lee to survive.
Everyone was behind stealing, but no one except Ken spoke up. Again, just proving his evil.
He never said anything about food OR water. He just wanted to get that boat in the Ocean.

It doesn't mean Kenny's a bad person, it just means he looks out for himself and his own group over other people. But I get your point, it just shows he's not a complete idiot though.
If it was so obvious the St Johns were hiding something, why is it that only Kenny(and I guess Lee depending on how you play him) was the only one to pick up on it? It being blatantly obvious to the players doesn't count. Kenny was the only one to really notice any problems with the St Johns, so either he's at least a little bit smart or everyone else is retarded. Though to be honest, I am tempted to go with the second option, Larry's retarded.
Holding the salt lick over Larry's head would have been more risky, if he suddenly jerked up. Regardless, it might not have been the smartest option, but it wasn't stupid.
Kenny was willing to take the others with him, just no one wanted to go, so he was going to leave anyways, because he knew the motor inn wouldn't be safe for ever, and he was right. Everyone was necessary to Lee's survival I guess, other than Larry, who almost got him killed in episode 1 and did literally nothing helpful is entire time being alive.
Not everyone was behind stealing. Lilly, Clementine, Lee(if you choose not to be) and Ben(I think?) didn't want to. Kenny wanted to benefit himself and his group at the cost of someone else's benefit. That's not evil, it's just morally wrong.
I agree that he didn't seem to have the plan complete, he kind of tunnelvisioned BOATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, but getting the boat into the water would be a pretty good first step. It's safer to consider what to do next in the boat on the water than in the house that zombies can break into at any moment.
Yay we agreed on something, it's a Christmas miracle!

Argument 1, point me. (I count "not a complete idiot" as a point :D) Argument 2, point you.
I suppose there were possibly better ways Kenny could have handled the saltlick situation....but no one else seemed to be planning on handing the situation if need be, so I still think he was at least right in that situation.
Kenny warned his group that it was too dangerous to stay at the inn, no one would listen to him, he was going to leave with his family and had an offer out for anyone to come with him. I wouldn't call that horrid. He tried and tried to convince them to come with him, and because he didn't leave earlier and stuck around with that group longer, his family died.
I suppose the only ones that were really against stealing completely were Clementine and Lee(depending on how you play Lee), who completely refused to help steal the supplies. Morally wrong is just something viewed as wrong from a moral standpoint, it's not necessarily evil. Kenny was looking out for himself, his family and his group at the cost of the possible livelihood of others. I think that's inconsiderate and mean, but not evil. Killing someone knowingly without proper cause would be evil, in my opinion. Which reminds me of my least favorite part of Kenny's character, that if you are an asshole to him he tries to get Lee killed multiple times. I hate that. I don't get why he would, otherwise he's actually a good person, just sometimes mean, so doing something that bad seems out of character.
I'd say getting the boat into the water, in other words making your self invulnerable to zombie attack, is the first and most important step. They could easily have gotten on the water then made a plan, probably to send small groups out to scavenge sometimes. Being invulnerable to the zombies roaming around would be my first priority, personally. No one seemed to be against Kenny's plan either.
Oh yeah. Not a COMPLETE idiot. But not all idiots are complete.
Lilly didn't like it either. On top of that, Ken made clear that he was… more the only one who saw them lock up the meat room. But Larry is great.
Again, it isn't smart either. I was looking for undeniably smart.
But he was ready to take off without them. Horrid option.
Lilly did it anyways. Ben was suspicious, but he still smiled when he got that box. Morally wrong and evil are synonymous.
That was the only step ever considered. And it was one of the less important ones.
Argument 1 goes to me, as it is deniable, which is what you're trying to find.
Any time unnecessary life is loss, stupidity is involved. Here, it is Ken's stupidity.
But Lee alone wouldn't be his saving grace. He'd need more.
So... In other words, it was common knowledge that even Ben was for. Deniable.
Nope. Because once the boat is in the water, bringing it back, with the noise of the engine and all, for food and water attracts a shit ton of zombies. A water filter and a fishing rod are the first two steps. Then comes the hotplate to cook the fish on.

FINE, TAKE ALL THE POINTS. 10 points to Gryffindor. I'll take The Walking Dead trivia for 100!
Okay enough references.
I suppose so, but I wouldn't call it unnecessary. If Larry had suddenly reanimated, it could have meant trouble for everyone in the room. Kenny had an easy clear shot to throw a saltlick on Larry's head, and if Larry had suddenly moved, Kenny might have missed. I think he could have waited a few more moments, but zombies can apparently reanimate very fast, so they couldn't wait very long and Kenny knew that.
Lee wouldn't be his saving grace? What do you mean? Everyone else refused to go with him, it's not like he wanted to ditch them.
Kenny brought up the idea of stealing, which does make him an inconsiderate dick towards people outside of his group, but also gives him at least some credibility as a quick thinker over the others.
Well, a fishing rod and water filter in a place where there used to be plenty of boating and fishing probably wouldn't be too hard to find. A hotplate on the other hand, would be difficult to find, though that's not necessarily the only way to cook them on, just the only permanent solution. But I do understand your point, there were a lot of things not considered. I still think the boat was a very good idea though, better than staying in the house at least.

It was completely and totally unnecessary. He could've said something, and if he were smart, he could've figured that he could take off his shirt, and use it to keep Larry's head in place. That would make it so that Lee could stomp Larry if he came back.
It takes more than two middle aged men and one middle aged woman to survive.
Quick? Yes. Smart? No.
Definitely not. The only reason the house didn't blow over was because of Ken's other bright idea. The train.

A NORMAL zombie is stronger than a normal human, and Larry's a tank, I'm willing to bet Lee AND Kenny would have trouble holding down zombie Larry.
Molly seemed to survive just fine on her own and Clementine has managed to survive on her own for periods of time, to some extend. I think Lee and Kenny could survive very capably together, so long as they get along.
Well stealing wasn't a stupid idea(there was no reason to believe they were stealing from a psychopathic stalker, THAT would be stupid), so what would you call it?
The train was something unanimously agreed on, and it was actually a damn good form of transportation. They probably would have all died out in the wilderness without it. Besides, the city was already absolutely flooded with zombies beforehand, there's no reason to believe they would have been able to stay in the house much longer regardless.
Damn right, I get all the points.

A normal zombie is not stronger than a normal human. If it were, then nobody would be able to escape their grasp.
Molly is the exception, not the rule. Besides, she thrived in a certain environment. One that she knew well, and was very mobile throughout. Clem survived for like five minutes before she needed to be saved.
I'd call it common sense. Not smart, not dumb, a rare example of average intelligence.
Yeah. But it was stupid. And it was ultimately the cause of their deaths. There were a lot of zombies before, but never enough to fill a street, shoulder to shoulder. Not until the horde following the train showed up. So yeah, stupid.

Clementine survived 1-2 days on her own at one point in a constant state of very bad luck, and for an untold amount of time at the end of season 1. Molly still survived on her own, even if she's not the norm, which shows you don't need a large group to survive. Oh, Nate also survived on his own for an untold amount of time, from what we saw of him. (He seemed to have a group but separate himself from them constantly, as if he didn't have one).
Yay, so Kenny has common sense.
Not stupid, they would have all highly likely died sooner if they hadn't used the train. At least Clementine and Kenny survived(and possibly Christa, but that is still up in the air right now). Also, it isn't necessarily confirmed that the train brought the zombies. Though it's likely, it's not undeniable. If you can play that card, so can I. d:

Clementine survived the one or two days with her all encompassing smell shield. That proves nothing. Kenny needs a large group, because he's not a skilled combatant. And again, Nate is an exception.
Yeah. He's still dumb.
No they wouldn't have. The only time that the train was the best option was when Lilly stole the RV. Otherwise, the whole escapade was pointless. And yes I can. The train was the only very loud noise. And loud noises attract hordes. People usually don't escape their grasp without assistance or easily, and besides, you can escape the grasp of someone or something stronger than you, it's not like being stronger = you're done for. A better comparison would be the way the zombies can completely overpower people when they have no weapons. Molly is the only person I know of who has successfully beaten a zombie in a fistfight, and she's Molly, so it doesn't count. ....That was certainly a lot longer than I made it seem from my one incomplete sentence, huh?
Kenny's a pretty good shot and he's no pushover in a fistfight either(I personally found the possible fight between Kenny and Lee a bit difficult compared to some other fights.)
Dumb with common sense? Wow, he sure is a special kind of stupid.
The RV was going to run out of gas soon. Iirc there's dialogue options that say "She won't get far, it's almost out of gas" or something along those lines. Even if it had a decent amount of gas left, it probably wouldn't be able to make it too far. One tank of gas can only take you so far.
Undeniable, you say? About as undeniable as zombies not being able to track a train. It makes more sense that it was just a wondering horde, than that it was a horde that knew how to follow something moving as fast as a train that probably didn't follow a straight path. Besides, if the train attracted zombies, who's to say the RV wouldn't have? That is, if the RV somehow had enough gas to reach Savannah.
They usually do.

You can't escape the grasp of someone stronger than you in a straight up shoving match. Lee has successfully gotten in kill positions of zombies with only his fists before.
He is a complete pushover in the fist fights. Even if you found the fight with him difficult (which is something I've never heard before), the contextual evidence is far too high for him to be considered good. He couldn't do shit to anyone else he fought with his fists. Except for one little walker, that was torn in half.
Uh... No. A lot of dumb people have common sense. It's everything else that needs to be lacking to be dumb.
They must have had an idea of where they were going. There isn't just ONE road out of a city. They had to think of a nearby city they could go to. Somewhere that they could get to. Then the train popped up, and they basically said, "fuck the RV."
They didn't track it. Did you see the train tracks? They were surrounded by high walls on both sides. They couldn't stop being on the tracks even if they tried. On top of that, as Abraham describes it in the comics (paraphrasing, of course), "Eventually, they even forget what noise they were following, but they keep going that direction anyways, because that's where all of the others are going." (And as Chuck's map proves, the train goes straight for the vast majority of the tracks) Then the horde then passed through town, and they got split up throughout the city, as they can't swim, so they just turn, and bam, city is fucking filled with walkers. THAT'S undeniable.
EDIT: Oh, and one more thing, they were not expecting to get to Savannah solely through the one tank on the RV. They'd clearly stop somewhere else, and get some gas.
Woops, sorry about that, I completely forgot to finish my sentence! xD

You can escape a grasp of something stronger than you. Factor in that holding a grip is harder on a sweaty person or piece of loose clothing, I've gotten away from people stronger then me and lost grip of people I'm stronger than plenty before, and I'm sure you have too. It's far from impossible, it's very difficult to hold your grip on a squirming struggling person.
Fine. At least Kenny's a dumb person with common sense, that's more than can be said for most of the cast of the games(Seriously, NO ONE can do these simple tasks that absolutely MUST be given to Clementine?).
Well, I would have said fuck the RV too. How about you? Besides, like I said, RVs have gas and that one was almost out. They'd only make it a few miles, iirc that's what was said after Lilly stole the RV(determinant).
They'd have to be smart to get on the tracks to be trapped on them, and even then, why wouldn't like half of them just turn around and walk the other way or wander aimlessly? While I still deny that it is undeniable(Denying something being undeniable, am I the only one that thinks that's funny?), I do think the train attracted the zombies, since it's heavily implied. I still think the train was a good idea. Would you really choose an RV that's nearly out of gas and barely in working shape over a fully working train in the apocalypse, when you're in the middle of nowhere?

Hell no. That sound is the scariest thing on earth. It would not only attract walkers, but also gunmen, and maybe even the same people that we just evaded.
No they wouldn't. Hell no they wouldn't. They'd follow the sound, and then just fall over the railing. Some would die, but a lot would make it. People still have difficulties shoving zombies off, even when it should be easy because it's a decomposing mentally handicapped person that's all skin and bones and usually looks like they weren't too strong in the first place. So imagine what a freshly reanimated tank of a zombie could do. Larry was strong enough to certainly overpower any other member of the group in life and in reanimation, he would feel no pain as well. On top of that, there were no actual weapons in the room. So one fuck up and zombie Larry eats everyone. You say being in a train would be scary enough for you to choose an unreliable RV over it, yet being in a room with a zombie Larry wouldn't be scary enough a thought to make you chuck(chuck....heheh) a saltlick at his face? He didn't exactly give much reason for people to NOT want to throw a saltlick on him anyways.
I prefer to say that I settled. I can accept Kenny being stupid if he's still one of the smarter characters. xD
Eh, I'd choose the train over the barely running RV any day.
Some random destination is better than the overrun motor inn. Maybe Kenny planned to go somewhere....urban.

If Kenny stood on two ends of his shirt, holding Larry's head down, he'd be able to judge the strength, and hop away if he was in danger. Larry couldn't overpower both Lee and Kenny. Besides, he was going to live anyways. No, that situation would make me take precautions, but every reanimation we have seen, they all open their eyes and gain their bearings before attacking. With more than enough time to drop the lick.
Oh he isn't. Any character is smarter than him, except maybe two or three.
They said it had thirty miles to it. Thirty miles is a hell of a lot. Even then, after that, they could walk, which isn't as horrible an idea as Kenny played it up to be.
But they wouldn't just GO. They'd think about which roads to take.

He might have been alive, but he wasn't moving and he seemed to have had a heart attack. There's no way in the heat of the moment, you'd be that calm and collected and not terrified of being trapped with zombie Larry to think of that AND go through with it. Also, Larry's a dick, so there's not much reason to want to keep him alive(he kind of tries to get Lee killed before even getting to know him). To be honest, I don't know why no one checked his pulse. I think they're all retarded, ALL retarded, for that reason alone. Larry would have opened his eyes if he was alive of dead, that wouldn't be a good way to tell if he was a zombie or not.
Clearly not, since he's the only one with the common sense to point out things that you claim are incredibly obvious, other than Lee and Clementine who are geniuses just because lulmaincharacters.
Ah, 30 miles? That's an alright amount, apologies, I thought it was less. I still think an RV also would have attracted some attention. It's also easier to stop, shown by the scene with Lilly shooting Carley/Doug, and it's slower. Besides, if the train is such a bad idea and Kenny's stupid for wanting to use it, everyone else is stupid. No one objected. So I revert to my statement that everyone must be retarded, which I'm not actually trying to argue against, they all do some very stupid things for the sake of making the game more dramatic and shiz.
They might not have had time to plan out where to go and they didn't have a map, they might have gotten lost. It's never stated that they were in an area any of them knew well, or at all.
Am I the only one who's noticed this discussion has been nearly completely derailed?
If Kenny stood on two ends of his shirt, holding Larry's head down, he'd be able to judge the strength, and hop away if he was in danger. La… morerry couldn't overpower both Lee and Kenny.
Or just, some party and others riot, and we don't force our views on others.
@gd3232, it really isn't getting that worked up about it. Kenny has been in the second most episodes, beneath only clementine. For consistency with the world, fairness to his character, and fairness to the people who don't like him and have, often very patiently, tolerated his presence, you're going to have to accept that he won't survive every single episode, and it's just not worth complaining about it when he does die.
I'm sorry, really. I used to dislike Kenny, now I slightly like him. But you have to come to terms with the fact he just isn't going to live forever.
How about the fact that he blinks? That's a pretty big hint. Zombies don't blink. They open their eyes shockingly, wait a second, then lunge. They have to have seen somebody turn at this point. No way in hell have they never seen a corpse. I wanted to keep him alive because I personally liked him. Not in a buddy buddy sort of way, but in a... I don't know how to explain it sort of way, I guess. Like you said, though, they were panicking. Only Kenny brought up the ability for violence.
He's not the only one to point out obvious things, you know... "LEFT SIDE, LEE!" "My purse, Lee!" And on top of that, he's a main character in his own right. Meaning that he gets more time to say shit.
Oh yeah, it would attract attention. Not a horde. At one point in the comic, Rick's group drives a fucking convoy of like three cars, one of them being a military truck, and another a van, and they get minimal walker following. No one objected Kenny because they were all grieving. And Kenny was grieving bad, yes, but just like with Lilly, if you can't handle it then don't fucking lead. Plus, Kenny is very intimidating. "GET ON THE TRAIN, CLEMENTINE." And on top of that, I believe that there is a choice saying something negative about the train, and Kenny flips out. That is stupid.
Yes, but it would be dumb to just take off into the woods. Nobody stood up this time because they were all scared, and relying on their driver. Kenny could have waited a few minutes, hours, whatever, turned around, and drove back to a spot where they could survive.
Yeah, but who cares? It has been derailed for a long time.

I've played through the game multiple times and watched plenty of playthroughs, played that scene again just to check, I saw no blink. I saw something that seemed like his eyes barely opening for a moment, which can happen when someone's getting their chest pumped, or could have been a graphical glitch. It was most certainly no hint to me. There is no reason to believe they have seen anyone turn either. The only one who might have is Larry(he mentions it in episode 1). I believe I personally sided against Kenny on that scene in my main playthrough if I recalled correctly, on the off chance Larry was still alive and because I prefer to be the good guy, but I don't think Kenny was necessarily wrong for what he did. I also find Larry to have quite a lot of charm to be coming out of his ass, he's a good character. Still a dick, but a dick I'd like to keep around for the opportunities to fuck with him and the things he says sometimes.
Okay, I don't mean quite that obvious. But yes, I guess you're right, he's one of the main characters, so he does get quite a lot of screen time and talk time.
They were all grieving? Why would that make them not object to a stupid decision? I don't recall Kenny ever yelling for Clementine to get on the train and NO ONE ever held their tongue when they didn't agree with Kenny, when ever he voices an opinion someone doesn't like, they say so. Yes, he does flip out if he ever gets the slightest bit of criticism, which is stupid among other things, but it doesn't make him stupid. It's probably one of his worst traits. He does it when ever someone disagrees with him.
I'd think if everyone thought Kenny was doing a bad job at making decisions, they would tell him to gtfo. There was no spot they could survive on the side of the road, the motor inn was overrun, the farm was overrun, so they had to get to some place safe, and fast, because they probably didn't have much if any food on the RV.
Clearly, no one cares. I just thought it was worth pointing out. :D

You have to pump pretty fast to see it. Maybe try again, pumping as fast as possible. As for Larry seeing someone turn, he pretty heavily implied that EVERYONE saw it.
Yup.
Because that on top of assuming that Ken knew what he was doing means no asking. And you don't know if they held their tongue, but secretly disagreed with Kenny, because they might have held their fucking tongue. And on top of that, grief makes people dumber. Did I say that made him stupid? I retract that. That makes him an asshole, and stupid. The inability to take criticism is something that can get everyone killed. Especially if they trust you. Making a bad call and refusing to see it as bad makes you dumb.
He wasn't really in charge at all until episode 3, after Doug/Carley's death. And after that, his family died, so Lee took over. And in that hour or so that he was in charge, he set in place a series of events that killed everyone except for him, Clementine, and possibly Christa. I'd say he's almost worse than Ben.

episode 203 will focus on life or death situations. The player will play as 11 year old Clementine who will have to choose who she trusts. A… mores Clementine it is up to you to keep her safe from harm. Many who arrive at carver's camp survives. Carver is the governor of the game because they both have that law where if you try to leave or not follow the rules you could be killed. I reckon this will be a excellent episode. 203 setting will be Carver's camp/mall. We will go to the woods and mountains in episode 204. This 90 minute episode is worth the wait, and will be enough to wait for the next episode. Thurday May 1st- Screenshot, Saturday May 3rd- Playing Dead/Sneek peek, Tuesday/Weds- 6th/7th episode 203 release. This is what I predict.
Yes, but he only implied he knew someone had turned. He never actually implied he SAW them as they turned.
Yup.
If they all thought Kenny knew what he was doing, they must have agreed with him. Like I said, it anyone would have disagreed with Kenny they would have voiced it. Even in a state of grief, nothing has ever stopped anyone in that group from voicing their disagreements, why would they start at that point? It doesn't necessarily make him stupid, just stubborn. Kenny was, in my eyes, an all around good leader other than one thing, he had trouble keeping his own emotions in check. It was one very big thing, though.
He didn't get Omid, Chuck or Ben killed. Molly also might be alive still, and if she's dead, he probably didn't get her killed. I also don't think many people would have done much better in Ben's position. He was just unlucky, honestly. Though he got Doug/Carley killed, that's on him(and Lilly). He should have fessed up.

I personally think shooting Carver is worth Alvin's life, even if the shot doesn't kill Carver. Though I didn't do it in my main playthrough for the sake of keeping people alive. xD
That's the one admirable thing he did.
Lilly didn't like it either. On top of that, Ken made clear that he was the only one who saw them lock up the meat room.
The train.
It was clear that the train hadn't moved in quite a long time, so any hordes possibly following it would have already passed, or dispersed. That is undeniable.
Wait... Did you just give me the argument? I win :D
Hell no. That sound is the scariest thing on earth. It would not only attract walkers, but also gunmen, and maybe even the same people that we just evaded.
No they wouldn't. Hell no they wouldn't. They'd follow the sound, and then just fall over the railing. Some would die, but a lot would make it. They wouldn't turn around because at that point, they had become a horde, and in the comics, it's explained that hordes don't really change directions unless they need to. I totally would pick the RV every single time. Because as I explained, they were headed somewhere. They aren't dumb enough to simply set out onto some random road, praying for some destination, especially when they had choice.. Well. Maybe Kenny is, who knows?
I prefer to say that I settled. I can accept Kenny being stupid if he's still one of the smarter characters. xD
Eh, I'd choose the train over the barely running RV any day.
Some random destination is better than the overrun motor inn. Maybe Kenny planned to go somewhere....urban.
@gd3232, it really isn't getting that worked up about it. Kenny has been in the second most episodes, beneath only clementine. For consistency with the world, fairness to his character, and fairness to the people who don't like him and have, often very patiently, tolerated his presence, you're going to have to accept that he won't survive every single episode, and it's just not worth complaining about it when he does die.

I hate him more than I ever did after that whole shitbird thing.
Edit: Well, someone already said this. Shit, think of something else to say, quick!

Sandwiches.

But now that i think bout it.. Well... Could be a possibility.xd
