Why is everyone hating on Troy?

Ok, lets start with what we know.

1. Troy exists

2. Troy will hit clem some time during the episode

now, what we don't know is EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT HIM!

Maybe he's following orders under threat of torture/death
Maybe Carver has his family or friends
Maybe it's part of a plan he hatched with Clem to get them out.

The point is, we know almost nothing about Troy. Except his awesome voice actor.

He hit Clem in the face.

    For me that's enough.

Also, though, its *because* that's all we know about him. First impressions and all.
  • You're right, but until he explains himself, I'm not buying anything.

I'm not saying he's justified in hitting her, I'm saying don't decide until we see the context.

  • (he doesn't have one yet)

    WHO??

  • It appears he switched places with Bonnie. I've said in another thread that for all we know, whether Troy hits Clem or not might be determined by you. And we also should hear Carver's story. Since the cabin group haven't really been honest about their time spent at the camp.

I say let's play the episode first, then we will crucify him or praise him like a hero....

People like to jump the gun quite a bit. They'll calm after a few days. Remember the Bonnie hate thread? Once the episode is released, if Troy's not justified, then we can "yell" at him.

If i would have to take a wild gues, i would say it's because that son of a Ben did hit Clementine!

  • True. that's probably why. did you read the discussion? too bad images are disabled or you could post the chicken gif

  • Yeah that's what I meant, until we hear his reason to do that I will treat him as a bad guy who hurt Clem.

I'm not saying he's justified in hitting her, I'm saying don't decide until we see the context.

  • Pretty hard to justify hitting a child, but what if this is actually determinant? Some scenes quite clearly after this happens don't show her with a bruise on her face. Maybe, Carver is 'beating down' someone and first Troy restrains her, telling her that getting involved will only make things worse and she'd be putting herself in serious danger. Choice: Run or Do nothing. In desperate times, people do irrational and immoral things, but perhaps it was the means to an end for Troy, as she may have received much worse had he allowed her to go past him. I, for one, am reserving judgement till the episode.
  • As do I good sir. and no, I did not kill Kenny.

  • Why do people like Troy?? To me he seems just a normal model for a Carver worker and just an enemy

Take your logical mind and away with you heathen!

But seriously though I agree with you. Context is everything in this case.
  • Haha, don't lie :P

As do I good sir. and no, I did not kill Kenny.

  • The reason people hate Troy is because he hit Clem when he could of grabbed her instead
  • Troy is my new waifu after this trailer.
  • Gordon Freeman's Voice actor.

    WHO??

  • Dude......

He hit a little girl with the butt of a rifle.........
  • Maybe it's when Carver is hitting Kenny (as shown in the episode 2 preview) and maybe we have the option to try and run over to help Kenny (like we did with Alvin) and Troy hits us to stop us.

  • Yeah, pretty mean move!

Dude...... He hit a little girl with the butt of a rifle.........

  • Maybe its a failed QTE.
  • There's no way to justify hitting a kid, especially because Clementine could have been stopped any other way. If you think about it, hitting a kid when you're a full grown man is about the same as hitting a defenseless puppy.
  • Why do people even defend such characters? Looks like some people will defend anyone just because they need someone to defend. Yeah, he hit girl, but maybe he's good guy, why do you hate him? Yeah, he could break her skull, but it could be his family in danger and so on.

Why do people like Troy?? To me he seems just a normal model for a Carver worker and just an enemy

  • Did you not just hear the words that you said? We don't even know the fucker and he hit a child. That's reason enough to hate him.
  • I love people who hit a defencles little girl in the face with a gun...

    ...Actually no. No I don't...

    I suppose.

Like I said, context. It could be part of a plan. maybe Carver yelled "STOP HER!" and it was too late to grab her. we don't know.

  • He was right next to her, Troy could have easily outstretched his arms and caught her, but instead, he hit her with the butt of an AK-47. I'm sorry, but no matter what he does, he still assaulted a child. So, fuck Troy.

  • Nothing justifies child abuse. He hit an 11 year old with the butt of a rifle. She was knocked to the ground and bleeding. Nothing justifies that.
  • Troy just saw a fly on Clem's face, he was trying to help!

maybe because he friken BASHED CLEMINTINS FACE WITH THE BUTT OF AN A-K FRIKEN 4-7!!!!!

Edit: God this is so cringe
  • did he? I hadn't noticed. I'm not saying I like troy. I'm saying that I'm not going to judge him until I play the episode and see who he is.

  • Bonnie hate was less justifiable. We played as her and knew her personality and back story. We know nothing about Troy. We have no reason to sympathize with him because we know literally nothing about him other than that he helps kidnap people and hits unarmed little girls.
