Sexist Carver and Clems Hit count

Anyone else think Carver seemed a tad sexist. It seemed he had a strong opinion of bitch slapping women when they did something "wrong". Also did that slap at the begininng of the game surprise any of you?

On another note Clems Hit count was higher than I expected.
Hit Count is 4 if you count the time Troy shoved her with the gun.
4 times in the course of like 2 days Lmao Clems a hell-raiser that's for sure.

  • Yeah, the first time Carver hit Clem, I was shocked. I really wanted Clem to have to option to get up and goad him or his wuss sheep followers.

Big man, needing to assert himself by slapping little girls. I don't think it's a sexist thing, though, Carver's just an amoral nutbag on a survivalist powertrip.

Carver seems more "Equal opportunities asshole" to me. He wasn't exactly indiscriminate in who he struck nor killed. He also comments that they need "strong women" (like Becca) and about "weak men" (Alvin).

So long as you're competent Carver doesn't care. He also doesn't care what gender you are when he has to punish you.

There's also his entire speech that is basically a veiled compliment of how strong Clem is, y'know, a girl.

I think you're looking a bit too much into this. If he was meant to be sexist Telltale would have laid it on a bit thicker.

Well, he beats men to death and throws them off rooftops when *they* do something wrong. :S

(I know. By some definitions that is sexism. But I'm sure Reggie wishes he was sexist towards him in that case.)
  • Carver slapped just about everyone.

The first time he slapped Clementine outside the truck actually got to me more than when Troy attacked her with the rifle butt. It was extremely vicious, even from a guy like him.

I don't think he's sexist. Clem and Sarah are the only ones who get slapped and I think that's because they're kids. The way I see it, Carver uses slapping as a corrective measure (albeit a very cruel one), whereas he punches/beats/maims people when he's truly pissed at them.
  • I have a feeling Carver was an abusive husband/boyfriend before the apocalypse.

  • I don't think Carver discriminates when it comes to hurting people, it seems like he enjoys torturing everyone.
  • Why are you blaming all women because of one person's post? Granted Carver shouldn't hit anyone at all but you gotta admit that slap at the beginning came out of nowhere.
  • Poor Sarah, that probably shocked her.
  • I don't think he's really "sexist", he's just evil to everyone. He slapped Clem, sure, but he threw Reggie off a roof. He made Carlos hit Sarah, but he also smashed Kenny's face with a walkie talkie.
  • I don't blame anyone at all, just saying that women were for equal treatment.

Troy seems like the ultimate redneck, like all the stereotypes in one redneck.

  • After all the talk about who Troy's VA was going to be, I still wasn't expecting Matthew Mcconehey(sp?) when he finally opened his mouth.

    (This has been a joke.)

    LOL JUSTICE!

"AHH! YOU SHOT MY DICK OFF!"

  • It was not just the slaps bro. No need to make quick accusations.. There were a few other things that made me think this. Just glad im getting feedback on it.
  • i actually wouldn't consider him a sexist, since he seemed pretty content in the idea that clem was the sort of person he wanted to lead the next generation of people, and not any of his current followers. carver was just prone to acts of violence, what i wonder is just how different he actually would have treated clem if kenny had kept his damned mouth shut and let her take the blame for the walkie talkie. could he have beaten the crap out of her till she was bloody? probably. would he? i'm not so sure. the way he was treating reggie for clem/sarah's failings may have just been a reason to get rid of him, but i still feel like he would have gone after luke for being a bad influence after he "corrected" clem.
