What if this decision was in season 1 instead? (Spoilers)

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
I just thought of something gut wrenching..

The whole Carver forces Carlos to hit his daughter situation... suppose this happened in season 1, but with Lee and Clem instead and you had to choose what to do? The thought alone makes me sick to my stomach..

What would you guys have done? I don't know if I could have done it.

  • Huhh... That would be a horrible decision.
  • daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn i dunno but i'm glad that didn't happen though
  • Lee would have told him to fuck off. No way Lee would hit Clementine.

Then someone like Troy would do it. Still think he'd let that happen?

It's like youre saying Carlos should tell Carver to fuck off.

I felt enough anger when Andy St. John grabbed her hair, i would probably flip my shit if someone made me hit her.
  • If Lee had absolutely no other choice than to hit her, he wouldn't have knocked her to the ground like Carlos did. I thought to myself, "fuck man, Carlos that was a bit much".

  • Just thinking about it disgusts me. I don't think Lee would have ever done that since he isn't submissive like most of the cabin group is. Hell, it's funny how if you put the season 1 group in the truck they would all be trying to find out a way out of there. But if Lee were to actually hit Clem in that situation Clem(both 8 and 11 years old) would have taken it much better than Sarah did.
  • He did that because otherwise Carver would say it wasnt enough and then Sarah would just get another slap, even worse than what Carlos gave her.

True. But he could have tried hitting her softer hoping that would've been enough. I would never be able to hit my daughter as hard as Carlos hit Sarah.

Maybe, but I am sure he had an idea of what Troy was capable of. Don't forget how he hit Clem with the gun if she tries helping Kenny from Carver, I bet Carlos knew Troy wouldnt mind doing that to Sarah.

I feel the "No way Lee would hit Clementine" kinda implies Carlos is a worse human being than Lee and i dont agree with that. Both characters are human, with both their qualities and flaws.

  • You're right, the cabin group does seem like they don't have balls like our beloved season 1 group did... except Ben of course.

About Sarah, I think it's obvious that she's either suffering from some sort of low autism or she's just generally mentally under-developed. And it doesn't really help that Carlos has kept pretty much everything going on a from her. I don't really get some of the hate I see for her, I feel sorry for her. Especially now.
Plus, I think she gives Clem some great character development. It's like Carver and Kenny give Clem survival, hardcore development. Whereas Sarah gives her some human development. I think Clem will be a balanced survivor, capable of doing what needs to be done and knowing when to be sympathetic, and Sarah is a part of that.

  • I could just imagine the stranger saying: "You hit that little girl in the face!"
  • I think I'd go all Kenny on his face if he did that..

You make a pretty good point. But Carlos is not as good a human being as Lee in my opinion because I don't think Lee would have left an injured little girl to sleep in a shed over night. Or at least the Lee I played as wouldn't have done.

Yes i have to admit that wasn't one of his best decisions. But still, I don't think he's a worse human being than Lee. Carlos also saved Clem's life when she runned out of bullets in episode 2 against the walkers.

In my opinion, they're just different people with different personalities that make good and bad calls.

Very true. Carlos was a good guy and I was sad to see him die in episode 3. But I still question his decision to smack Sarah as hard as he did. Sarah is such a sweet girl and I wouldn't be able to hit her like he did. As you say humans have different personalities and make good and bad calls. The bad call wasn't hitting Sarah, but hitting her so hard she fell to the ground.

  • It looks like Clem would be more understanding than Sarah, but still...
  • Indeed. Emotionally, when i saw it at first time, thought the same, that he hit her too hard. But thinking rationally like he did, I guess he had no other choice, taking in consideration Troy's attitude.
