Picking berries is hard work?

So I finished In Harm's Way. I enjoyed it very much, yet another great job by Telltale. However, I found Carvers' lines about "hard work" laughable. Clementine: "Been loading mags and picking berries, I'm beat!" (I know she didn't say this, just a joke)

Comments

  • I would assume that was mostly directed toward the adults. Of course, any work is hard work under Carver's supervision because he may kill you for even the most insignificant error.
  • it's carver, he basically killed a man for no reason, this isn't as crazy as it sounds :P
  • Well, we'd only been there for a few days. I'm sure the chores would become harsher as time passed.
  • That shit was hard for Sarah
  • Carver: where are mah berries!?
  • At least that all clementine had to do. Im glad she didn't have to do super hard labor work or something like that.
  • That bucket of nails looked heavy for an 11 year old. The running around camp was stressful. Clementine was their delivery boy. I wonder what Becca's job was.

  • That whole scene was just an excuse for Carver to kill Reggie.
  • She gives comments about how good you did your job. Well, no one has reached her standards yet :P

And for a surprise hug for Sarah.

That whole scene was just an excuse for Carver to kill Reggie.

  • Carver was indeed looking for excuses to kill Reggie.

His own thugs say that, when your overhear their radio talks

Geez, you would think failure to pick berries in a timely manner wouldn't be a very legitimate excuse lol.

  • I'd pick Carver's ber- I mean uhh yeah hard work..... :D
  • I know. Not picking the berries is right up there with forgetting to wipe your feet on the welcome mat, or sneezing into your arm instead of using a tissue.

  • It's pretty ridiculous when you think about it, Carver killing Reggie for failing to cut off dead branches
  • I now wonder how long Ben could have lasted in Carver's community before Carver murdered him.

I demand a DLC, Telltale! A "What If" story of Ben and Carver.

  • Carver loves his berries, man.

Apparently you're weak or character if you dont know how to pick berries.

Speaking of which, was anyone else looking forward to a berry-picking/dead branch trimming mini-game?

I would have liked that sequence to have been more like Lee picking up medicine at the beginning of S1E3. Just a simple timed point and click minigame, with the possibility of accidentally cutting live branches or not finishing your work. They could even incorporate the choice in the episode.

Like if you choose not to help Sarah, you get a very slow timer bar so you'll be able to complete the minigame somewhat easily. But if you do choose the help Sarah, you get an impossibly fast timer bar, making it impossible for you to complete the minigame. Would have helped the immersion/player agency a bit more.

Some people may have found it annoying though.
  • This would have been awesome.

  • I think most of the players thought of this opportunity. I was like «don't tempt me to cut the plants down».
