Why I Think Lilly is a Bad Person

I don't like Lilly, I mean yeah she only cared for her dad but it's easy to care about your family and not be a dick? Larry told Lilly about Lee's murdererererrrr and they thought he was dangerous? I'm sure if Lee was a true murder he would've killed everyone by Episode 2... I'm just saying, I hope she doesn't come back. I really think she's a bad person, you can go ahead and defend her all you want, but shooting babies is wrong (Issue 48). She's also a hypocrite, she says murder is bad: kills Carley, stealing is bad: steals the RV.

  • She straight up murdered Carly/Doug! I don't think she is bad I KNOW SHE IS.

But it would be sweet if she came back :D
  • If she came back as a changed person, then I would be cool with it. I will never forgive her for what she did. EVER.

I never hated Lilly until what she did to Carley/Doug. The only reason why I'd ever be ok with her coming back is so I can give her the ultimate cold shoulder. And to get to see Kenny chew her out for how she acted.
  • Game Lily is different to comic Lily

I don't hate Lilly. I was upset when she killed Carly/Doug, but to be fair she was depressed, not in the right mind, and probably having a mental breakdown.

Also what Kieran said is true the comic and game lilly are different characters.(since Kirkman ret coned it)
  • Well, good job ignoring every single one of her sympathetic points... Also, comic Lilly didn't even know Lori was holding a baby.

Seriously, I think "bad person" is pushing it. CARVER was a "bad person", not Lilly.
  • She doesn't steal it if you leave her behind. :) Yeah at first I felt bad for her, but she just got worse and worse, when she killed Carly pretty much in cold blood that was it for me I left her ass behind.
  • THANK YOU, killing Carley (Doug for those of you who saved him), was the last straw between my Lee and her.
  • Lilly was a great character that added a lot to the first three episodes , despite of what she did , she will add more if she comes back ( and I hope she will )
  • Lee murdered a man pre-apocalypse. Personally I feel like the only real option that makes sense for him is to sympathize with her, because she killed in the heat of the moment just like he did and this was on top of the stress of survival and attack and the loss of her entire family.

When people criticize Lilly for killing Carley/Doug it just feels like they're forgetting the fact that they're playing as a murderer. A PRE-APOCALYPSE murderer.

When Lilly completely broke down and straight up killed Carley, I still gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn't leave her. Thinking maybe there's a chance I can mend the broken shards.

But no, she also left with the RV. Sorry, But I can't help someone who won't help me help them.

I don't think she was a bad person. I think she was a broken woman, sick from grieving her father and the stress of leadership. It's obvious that she actually did care for the group and their well-being, with the exception maybe being Kenny after episode 2.
    BUT.
What she did was unforgivable. She had to go. Lee couldn't risk bringing her with them, not with Clementine. Who knows what else she could have done? Why anybody even brought her with them is beyond me.
That said, she was a really cool character. I hope she turns up alive later and rejoins the group. Should make for some nice drama, especially if Kenny is still alive.

Also, comic Lilly is not the same as game Lilly. This has already been confirmed, which also opens up the possibility of her returning. It also makes her character much more redeemable in my eyes at least.

Perhaps Lilly is a character who is the product of her environment? There were glimpses of humanity in Lilly. Such as when she takes Lee aside, privately, and concedes that the hot flashes of temper of her Dad are unreasonable but she loves him anyway; and after Lee dispenses with the food rations, Lilly's angry disposition seems more routed in the frustrations of not being able to effectively take care of the whole group. Unfortunately the brutal murder of her Father (and Kenny's stubbornly unapologetic stance) and Ben's betrayal of the group incited a mental implosion and paranoia got the better of her. So I think I'd personally characterise Lilly as a strong definition of someone who has done bad things, but not necessarily an inherently bad person.

The murder of Carley is downright horrible to watch, still, but Lilly's reaction to killing Doug is dramatically more raw.
  • Don't forget that the same group killed her father with a saltlick.
  • Precisely. There are so many contributing factors to Lilly's downward spiral that it's virtually impossible to stereotype her as a cold hearted killer. Murder is often touted as a necessary evil in The Walking Dead and as Bonnie says, "ain't no saints in all of this."

  • I chose Carley in A New Day. Out of curiosity, how is Lily's reaction different when its Doug she kills?

  • Lilly attempts to shoot Ben, but Doug intercepts the bullet instead. She justifies his death by insisting it was an accident, but I suppose the same intent for Ben is the same intent she had with Carley.

  • I don't agree I see where you are coming from but I don't agree with you. Lee killed a man sleeping with his wife, no excuse at all for killing him. They fought Lee came out on top it's still Murder, but we don't know the whole story behind that. Lilly killed a person on a hunch, no proof just pulled the trigger cause Carly was annoying her. Yes its after the world turned to shit I know. But even if you took her with you, she still leaves alone in the RV. Doesn't really sound like someone that cares to me.

  • I will always hate Lilly because she killed Carly, Carly became one of my favorite characters in Season 1, and other than Lee and Clementine, she is my my 3rd fav. character from either season.
