If Clem is the Protagonist I will not buy season 2 and heres why!

Plain & Simple

daryl2.jpg

-I can not handle anymore of clem.
-Clem as a protagonist would ruin season 2.
-Season 1 I wanted to focus on survival not be a dad.
-Clem got very annoying towards the end and there was no choice in not
includeing her in every possible situation.

Season 2

1. Bring in a new group of survivors.

2. Leave old baggage behind and have it stay there (leave clem story alone start fresh)

3. Improve some gameplay mechanics like adding in some more gunplay vs horde without being in a cuttscene ( but keep relative structure from season 1 as a base)

4. Add in more group survival dynamics (Like the end of mass effect 2)

5. Keep same storywriters but like I said above, introduce new group of survivors.

Just my opinion. Agree or disagree but as always don't get butthurt.

This was meant to be a point-and-click adventure game, so being in a "cutscene" is just how it's going to work. It was always going to be about the emotional aspects, and approaching gameplay in an alternative fashion. I mean it's fine if you didn't like Clementine, but for me she is what made the storyline stand out from other video game stories, and gave me a reason to actually survive in a horrible world.

I think AMC's The Walking Dead Survival Instincts will have you covered on the FPS/action department. So, I'd like to see Telltale Games continue as they are, because there's enough stagnation as it stands in the gaming marketplace. Using more action is what killed Resident Evil and Survival Horror in the first place, so yeah, let's not go in that direction.

Nice insight however I didn't mean make it an FPS..... I meant more gunplay like the house breach in episode 4 or the Bandit Raid.

I wouldn't mind a little more of those situations, but too much gunplay, and it would be closer to an On-Rails shooter, which is the kind of gameplay I'm not too fond of in a solo experience. I'd rather have a straight up FPS at that point, and for people who haven't heard about it yet, Survival Instincts sounds fun, but I really haven't seen any actual footage to really impress me or show that they are going to deliver on their promises.

    Nice Daryl macro BTW.

That simply isn't how this game was envisioned, i think. It's not about killing zombies at all, if you want more of that, you should try the "Survival Instincts" game coming out.

As for not wanting Clementine, well it seems she was one of the main focus points for the entirety of season 1.

I haven't watched the TV show at all, but from what i can gather that dude in the picture(Merle?) is a popular character with the audience. I'm sure there are a few people out there who wanted/continue to want him dead or out of the picture somehow, but the majority seems to enjoy having him around. The same with Clementine.

It's Daryl, Norman Reedus's character. Merle is his brother.

    I fully endorse these ideas.

I can find no flaws to them.

I wouldn't mind seeing Clem at some point in season 2, but you're right she shouldn't be in the spotlight like in S1. S1 was cool as a dad simulator, but hopefully season 2 will contain all new types of feels.

Screw gunplay. I'd rather have harder puzzles and more branching decisions, if they were to improve upon anything - and the studio got a lot of exposure with this game, so with a bigger team, they can easily make that a reality.

I mean, TWD was my game of the year...if they took that and made decisions branch out better, reduced some of the framerate issues, and made puzzles more difficult (or at least more in depth and stimulating), the game might be my favorite EVER.

Can the term "butthurt" die a slow death now, preferably buried next to "this"?

Also, huge sigh to this post.

The FPS game has already stolen Daryl muthafuckin Dixon and Merle, so we wont be getting them.
I would like to play as some new characters. But the old characters need to appear too.

You want to shoot people all the time buy COD. Stick to story telling..Thats the unique part but I cant understand not wanting Clem. Shes a unique and great charecter and you just want to throw that away... what a waste that would be. You need someone to look after. It gave meaning and consequence rather than ill 'Kill him, who cares' its oh crap someone may be watching. Clem should be a big part but... have 2 charecters more important than her. Back in lime light season 3 but keep her about.
Personally Id like Clem to stay... she made this game and not shooting scenes. We have enough shooter games

I'm fine with not playing as Clem or Omid or Christa, and getting an entirely new group of survivors.

However, regardless of which route Telltale goes I think Clem's story needs to be resolved. Having her disappear entirely from the universe after a cliffhanger, would be more than a little disappointing. Players want to know that Lee saved Clem, not that she got eaten by walkers or met some horrible fate at the hands of bandits shortly afterwards.

If we are playing as a member of a completely new group, at some point in the story we need to come across Clem, and Omid and Christa, and see that they are still surviving.

This is your opinion...i think your opinion sucks tho...atleast for Season 2.
We need to see how Clem's story ends in Season 2,then they can move on to another group of survivors if they will do more Seasons.
From your post, the only thing i can see is that you should go play shooter survival games like Resident Evil...it's like you don't like half of the game,in that case...the game is just not for you...

The game is about survival (yes, I know it's not a 'survival game'). But if all you want is to be a father figure for Clementine, then I could just as well say that TWD isn't for you either.

I do want her to show up in Season 2; I'm just not sure to what extent.

I play TWD the way i want dude, and i like the game (which automaticly means that the game is for me)...but if you don't like the game, then it isn't for you...it's simple as that...

if i want to play as cold-hearted killer and i like it (the game is for me) if i want to be father figure for clementine and i like it (the game is for me)....

All of the episodes did have some kind of focus on Clementine...you always had to protect her,it's the whole point of the game (along with survival ofc),if you don't like Clementine, then tbh...you won't like the whole game as much. This game is not for everybody...and there is more games out there with only survival and killing, where you don't need to care about a little girl

I didn't say make it a FPS............... I said more Gunplay Verse Horde like when you were holding out before going in the attic in episode 5. Last time I will say so you incoherent F%^&s!

Was it really necessary to bleep out your own "fuckers" you twat?

I could not agree anymore !! Obviously Clem will be in season 2 100% sure since not only did they end with the cliffhanger but Clem is the face of the franchise. I feel like telltale will completely choke here and make season 2 not with clem the protagonist but with it being exactly the same situation where Clem is pretty much the center of the storyline. Your "acting like a dad" point is very valid.

I don't mind not playing as Clem, so long as we find out her fate. I think better gunplay is unnecessary though, I'd rather TT spend their time on the story and puzzles.
  • edited December 2012
    Ick.

I hope puzzles aren't their top priority.

The combat sequences in 4 and 5 were shining moments of awesome.

Of course, technically, clearing the motor inn during episode 1 was..... kind of like a puzzle. I could handle more events like that.

This is about the smartest thing I've had pass through my brain thus far.

I wouldn't like more puzzles, mostly because I'm terrible at them. :p Though it could work, i see TWD more as an adventure game than a puzzle game. I enjoyed the standoff scene in episode 5 but despised the two shooting scenes in episode 4. The ones in 4 just do not fit into this game in my opinion. I was also taken out of the immersion after realizing i can shoot unlimited bullets.

I'd like more of the scenes like episode 5, but they shouldn't have too many of them. For the first time you're directly told that your ammunition is limited, and you really feel that you don't have a lot of defenses against the walkers. Too many scenes where you gun down hordes of them would make them seem like much less of a threat, and that would detract from the experience(imo).

ok calm down man i see what your saying but clem will be in season 2 maybe she wont be as important as she was in season 1 but she will show up that i am willing to bet on maybe not my soul but if you don't like clem then don't get the game

Season 1 is Lee and Clementine's story, Lee being able to redeem himself by protecting this little girl. I'm sure Season 2 will be someone else's story. Clementine will just be there to probably ran across over the new group.

    I think that could work.

Exploring the stories of an entirely new group of survivor's might even be a better way to go than following Omid and Christa and Clem.

But either way, we need some resolution with Clem. The game ended with a bit of a cliffhanger regarding her fate, and it shouldn't be left at that. If we follow an entirely new cast of characters, we need to come across Clem at some point and see that she is still surviving.
  • Why are you bumping old threads?...

    wtf

  • LOL this person says this, but look at how awesome the game is now!!
  • Raging_Blades

its fun to see what people think about the game before its even developed, and see what they think of it.
