I was disheartened by these negative comments too, but the episode was amazing in my opinion. The action sequence felt more intense than any of the ones in the former episodes, although not as epic as Episode 3's finale. If you are a sincere fan of TWAU, I'm sure you won't be disappointed by this episode. I'm guessing that many of the people here were just expecting too much.
Except for TWAU ep2? Which was a letdown too and took like 3 months or more? Stil have to playthis one for myself tomorrow, the reception so far has not been very encouraging.
It did feel a little short, but I was fine with it. I loved the action sequence, I liked meeting the new characters, there were choices, developments, and interesting dialogue. Like episode 2, the pace was a little slower, but that doesn't bother me in a mystery story. I expected this to be a "putting things together" type of episode rather than a "no holds barred" type of thing. I think that they're (hopefully) just building up to an epic finish.
Just finished watching a lets play, and tbh the episode was good, new revelations, new characters the investigation is still on, can't wait to play it myself next week. The only downside is the length and lack of puzzles imo
This episode was low on action, but that's not a problem for me - if anything, the fight against Jersey felt a bit... "token", as if they had a "big fight including dismembering" box on the check-list. Unfortunately, the rest wasn't great either.
They're not even trying to involve you in the investigation, like episode 1 with Toad's appartment where you had to check for clues and find conclusions. It was Pajama Sam-level difficulty, but hey, it's still better than "enter hidden room in butcher shop"->"10-minute cutscene".
Snow was unbearable for some reason, in early episodes I really liked her but in this episode I took most decisions in the sole purpose of pissing her off because she was getting on my nerves. I'd like to see how well she does with forty bullet holes in the chest and a ripped arm.
The scene with Nerissa is supposed to feel awkward, with the whole "want to talk but lips are sealed" thing, but the pacing is absolute a**, one of the worst I've ever seen in any work of fiction.
But worst of all, that growing feeling that you're the only one to give a shit about Fabletown. You're about to enter the lair of the big bad who makes Fabletown hell, and you're alone. I expected something like Walking Dead season 1, every Fable you've been nice to comes to help. But no, not a single Fable to help you. And the Crooked Man will be on his field, most likely outnumbering you, with anti-wolf weapons like the one that almost killed you. Before entering the door I searched for a "screw this, I'm going home" option, because that's definitely what I would have chosen.
I have to say, with all the negative response I saw here, I prepared myself for the worst. Now I am after completing the episode - and I don't understand all the hate.
It took me about 1h 20min to complete the episode, but that was not surprising because of two things - 1) that's how long these episodes are now (and so were eps 2-3); 2) the trailer showed the scenes from maybe 3-4 locations tops, so I knew there was no chance it would suddenly be around 2 hours.
The other thing is that these 1h20min certainly did not feel short for me - the episode expanded on the universe, introducing many new characters and places and did it (at least that's how I think) in a proper way. In comparison, I feel that episode 2 (even though the same in length) was a lot shorter, because there was almost no progression and the scenes felt overlong (and that is why I still claim that ep 2 is the worst of the season).
How is it the company's fault that people are hacking into their games and leaking models from upcoming episodes? People should NOT be fucking doing that in the first place.
True but, first of all, leaving the files to be leaked was indeed their fault (there have been Telltale model's extractors out for a long ti… moreme), and since they knew important models leaked they shouldn't have saved "you know who's" image expecting for it to make a big impression, specially for an episode ending... and such a weak episode to make it worse.
I honestly don't know what you're talking about. This episode wasn't filler at all. We found out a lot and we also know a lot now because of this episode and there might have been a lot of important information in this episode that leads into the next.
On another note, how the hell did you get only an hour from that episode?! I do have to admit, that it did seem short but I got about an hour and a half on it. Really, you people need to slow it down and look at things. For example, the bridge we saw first thing into Episode one? Yeah, it is now a key location. Bet nobody saw that coming, but Telltale put that small hint in there to tell us!
I also saw that people think that Episode 2 was a filler as well. . . really people?! Really?! Not at all a filler, we found out a bunch in that Episode too!
Also, some small minor choices have been put in the episodes as well. Like in the Episode 2 when you find out that Snow isn't dead and you head to the elevator; when you get in, you have a choice of saying something to her. I said 'Glad you're not dead, Snow', and guess what?! She said that to Bigby this episode. It's those tiny things that matter in games like this.
And looking at everything else, people got hyped up to see the characters in the game, therefore rushing through the game. Now that no one h… moreas a reason to rush through everything, maybe everyone can get back to enjoying the game and stop complaining about the length of the episodes.
I'm more sore about the possibility that it was scraped from it's original idea and remade (hence the new ep.3 slide). Also it took twice amount the time while being the least developed episode.
I honestly loved the latest episode and don't really understand while people are complaining about it though
Replay the episode on another saved filed. That's your best bet and to go a bit of a different route than what you did the first time. I think to unlock this, you need to go to The Cut Above if you went to the Lucky Pawn first and vice versa.
This is what normally does it for me. I play each episode about three times and by the time I'm done my third round, I get everything in the Book Of Fables.
It's not about "exact some kind of revenge" or anything like that. Alot of people were happy that the episode came out quickly NOBDODY expected that but do you really think that people should turn the over way when it's not of quality?
I don't know why people are hating on it, I personally liked it. Do I wish it would've been just a little longer? Yes I do. But other than that, the episode was good. The dialogue was good, we had new characters we had to meet, some new information we learned, and the fight at the lucky pawn was probably the best one so far, at least in my opinion.
As for the ending, it's understandable they had to end it with a cliffhanger. What did people expect? The showdown happening right there and then..? Overall, I've enjoyed this episode and it served as a great build up for the last one.
Thats kind of rude, because you dont know what i even rated the game,
notice how i said "heres the link if you want to rate:" i never said you had to give it a low rating i just gave an idea and put the link for those who dont know where to find it.
As you all know I'm not usually one to complain about episode length because I think these new episodes are great regardless of the length of them, this also applies to the latest episode which had me stuck to it like glue. But my god this episode was short.
An hour and a half episode? I can handle that. But an episode that consists of just over an hour of gameplay? That's crossing the line a bit.
I very much enjoyed this episode Telltale and I thank you for that, but this episode's length was just a massive kick in the teeth to us loyal fans.
Thread: Why episode 4 is amazing, and the length doesn't matter for TWAU as much as TWD SPOILERS
I thought this episode was the best episode of wolf yet. why you might ask? it was extremely intense and had me interested the whole time. The most intense part for me was when Bigby and Co. were listening to the message on the phone, it had me shaking to find out what was going to happen to beauty and beast.
Now to get on to the length, i say the length doesn't matter as much because bigby already has relationships with others in fabletown, while in TWD it needs the length so you can get to know others, since it is an apocalypse and many have no idea who others are. also this is a murder investigation there is no time to stop and chat with others or take your time getting things sorted out, that's why i loved this episode it was fast paced like a murder investigation should be, you gotta find the murderer as fast as possible or there will be more victims. no matter what others say, episode 4 is a great episode and the length really doesn't matter for this one, twd on the other hand needs the length and is suffering because of it, TWAU does not need the length as much. ALSO BIGBY WAS TOTALLY A FUCKIN BEAST WHEN HE WAS BEATIN JERSEY INTO THE GROUND AMIRIGHT??
Seems like the length of an episode now somehow determines its overall quality, though I guess anyone can paint a target over the mark they just made and call it a bullseye.
The episode was "alright". It definitely wasn't bad... however it lacked the substance the other episodes had. Hopefully, Telltale makes a lengthy finale to make up for this short episode.
i'm not a fanboy, i had problems with smoke and mirrors and definitely enjoy many other games over TWAU i'm just trying to point out some things others are passing over and not seeing
Someone's a real fan boy.
The episode was "alright". It definitely wasn't bad... however it lacked the substance the other episodes had. Hopefully, Telltale makes a lengthy finale to make up for this short episode.
My problem wasn't just the length. It was that the quality was seriously lacking in comparison to the other episodes. The length was just adding insult to injury. Not only do we get an episode that is basically every meaning of the word filler (save for a couple of really good moments) but it's also about 20 minutes less than what has become accepted (not without protest) as the new normal for Telltale episodes.
Like damn, come on Telltale. We love you but damn. Don't test our patience anymore than you have these past few months.
To be honest, I have no heavenly idea what you're talking about. I clocked almost two full hours playing this episode. Didn't feel any shorter than the last one, in fact, it felt longer, and I was interested throughout. Don't see what the people are complaining about.
not to be mean, but what do you want? bigby and snow to find everything easily in one go and no road blocks? this is a murder mystery and this so called "filler" is always in murder mystery's, it wouldn't be a mystery if there weren't times where they didn't know where to go, or if they are wasting time, IMO they captured everything greatly in this episode and i believe it is one of telltales greatest episodes yet.

I saw it coming; the bridge turning out to be a key location. But I expected it to be more than the random location a magic door jumped to. Maybe a murder scene to investigate, the place where Faith's body was dumped, or the place for a final showdown... But who knows, maybe it will be... the episode still was a let down. I'm not saying it had no value, just that I expected more. And most fans seems to agree.

Hey don't get me wrong - I liked it. I really liked it. A few of the scenes were actually really well done. But most of it felt like buildup and buildup and more buildup - and then no payoff. I get that the finale is going to be the payoff....
But let me use an example. Imagine if in TWDS1 episode 4, the episode ended right before the group went into Crawford. It was building up and building up ---- and then it payed off with the actual infiltration of Crawford and the aftermath of those events. I feel, at the very least, this episode should have had the conversation with the crooked man as it's ending.
Although I do have faith that the finale will be badass. I hope. I'm holding out hope for Telltale to deliver a product that's the perfect length with the perfect pacing and tells a complete and satisfying finish.

I just finished playing it, and it was pretty damn good.
There were some great scenes in this episode, Woodsman helping Bigby fight the Jersey Devil in the Lucky Pawn was awesome. I don't get the people complaining.
I also didn't see any ''filler'', if you think the episode felt too draged out, you should know that Telltale needs to drag the episode as much as they can to make it longer. Anyway, it was awesome and i can't wait for the next (And last) one.

My option this was the worse episode of the Wolf Among Us. Too short (75 min.). I hope the WD Episode 4 would be far better than this. They released this episode too fast and this is the result.
But i like how much worried Snow about Bigby. I like her. I hope she don't gonna die.
I liked the episode. It was way better than episode 2, I could even compare it to episode 1, but it can't beat episode 3. I wonder why people complain about the length, I felt there were shorter episodes, like episode 2 of TWAU or Episode 1 of TWD: Season 2.
And call me dumb to realise it that late, but the achievements form "Once upon a time, there was a wolf, who ruled the land. He was much feared, but soon he mended his evil ways and all were happy." That's so awesome, and sadly, no other episode has something like this.
I am not complaining about the length in particular, i actualy liked this episode alot. But the main problem i had with this episode was the disapointing ending. The length would have been perfect, if Bigby would have had the conversation with the crooked man at the end of this episode and the ending wouldn't have felt that rushed. Anyway, i think it was still a decent episode.
I really liked it. The episode advanced the plot and set up greatly for the finale.
Too bad about the lenght, though. Would really like one or two extra scenes, but I guess the OP is right, TWAU seems to require less lenght than TWD. Problem is, TWD's lenght is what's reeeeallly making me worried....
I actually thought this episode was great. It kind of seemed like it had the same set up as the first episode, except probably not as lengthy. But still pretty good, nonetheless.
Now that I've played through the episode, it's actually probably a good thing it wasn't the two hour episode everyone wants. There wasn't much to really put into the episode without giving away important elements of the next episode, so a longer episode would have just dragged everything out. I bet the next episode will be somewhat lengthy, since it's the finale.
I have no idea how people think this episode was a bad one. I was expecting a drag episode with barely nothing happening. It was a great one, lots of character interaction and I must say, the voice acting and the music were stronger in this episode than the previous ones.
And it didn't feel shorter than the previous episodes, some of you guys really over-exaggerated when you said the episode was shorter than it was. I set my expectations lower thanks to the spoiler-free thread earlier and the episode far surpassed my expectations. I was disappointed with In Harm's Way of TWD S2 (for the most part, there were several great scenes in it though) but this episode I thought was great.
I don't know how either, seeing as how many people thought this episode a major disappointment, I must be going crazy. But it was far better than I was expecting it to be.
Comments
I was disheartened by these negative comments too, but the episode was amazing in my opinion. Yeah, but take into consideration that you get your first achievement after finishing 1st chapter. So you should add few more minutes into this.

That's all that needs to be said on this issue really.
Can you explain the filler in the episode because I can't find any.

its a 5 dollar episode man.
most of the hate starts from the length
Just saw IGN's review of it. 6/10 -_-
Then again, I can't say I'm surprised seeing how it isn't a Call of Duty game...
