idk my gripe with this game is that the episodes just got a whole lot shorter. But i don't necessarily think the ending was sloppy. The episode was a nice build up to whatever is going to happen at the final episode. The one thing i would have liked to see was the aftermath of killing Dee.. or was it Dum ? But i guess i'll wait and see
I actually like it. I've heard mixed reviews about it; a lot of them feeling like it was rushed and too short. I thought episode 2 was blah and boring and I also heard a mix; when I'm so focused on the situation, I forget time exists! Towards the end, it DID seem a bit rushed; couldn't I have explored a bit more before TT arrived? I did, however, enjoy the Jersey Devil. His look was amazing, that voice and his glamoured self looked like those cheesy 70's and 80's pornos. XD Overall, I had fun and can't wait for the 5th episode. 8 out of 10
It took me 1hr 40 min judging by my clock above my TV. I can however see how people could get less from the game by going to the Butcher first, but that's it. Sorry if I minorly spoiled a bit.
Im going to use my stopwatch when I play too so I can really see what the big deal is. Im not a fast tracker though. I usually take my time with each episode.

I didn't mind the length too much in this episode honestly, I liked the Jersey Devil's creepy character design, and my ending was pretty epic when Bigby lit his cig & it suddenly cut to black. Left me super excited for episode five. But, with that being said, I do agree that it was more of a filler episode rehashing stuff we already knew to set up for the last episode. That was a little disappointing 'cause I wish we would of found out something to add to the crookedness of the Crooked Man rather than the same things being said in a different way. Also, the trailer for the next episode was lack luster.
I liked it. The dialogue was the main thing that stood out the most, apart from the pretty sweet Jersey Devil fight that everybody's praising. Although I kinda wish we would've seen more of Central Park in the game's visually-appealing graphics style.
I mean great action scenes, most characters, dialogue and basic gameplay handled pretty well. Pacing was a bit off.
But damn, some characters (Beauty, Beast, Colin and Tiny Tim) were handled pretty poorly, and the episode wasn't tense. As well as decisions not really being tough to do or whatnot.
How is the ending anticlimatic? The door closes and you choose how climatic the ending is. I don't get how there is little payoff. If you take the time to look at all the possibilities you'll find out there is more payoff in this episode.
Beauty and Beast were handled the best way to be expected from the last 2 episodes. Colin was meant to be a caring pain in the ass and he was both caring and a pain in the ass. Tiny Tim is a running man which is to be expected, and he probably wanted to get out of that place and looked at Crane's Office for help. Connect the episodes and characters and everything will fit.
Somewhat dissapointing.

But damn, some characters (Beauty, Beast, Colin and Tiny Tim) were handled pretty poorly, and the episode wasn't tense. As well as decisions not really being tough to do or whatnot.
Good episode but still dissapointing.
TWD episode 3's final choice, a dialogue option, episode 4's; a dialogue option. TWD Season 2, every episode had an epic decision. TWAU episode 2, dialogue option, episode 4, dialogue option. Not EVERY episode ends on an epic choice, and this one had a really badass moment (lighting the cigarette).
Lack of choices and lack of consequences to those choices. I mean it ends on a cliffhanger for god sakes. It seems like every episode before… more this one in both the wolf among us and walking dead end on an epic choice the player has to make. This one doesn't. Also it was just an hour long. If you're going to remove choices I.e differentiation in the story then at least make a longer story. The previous episodes were both longer and had more choices.
It's like the Architect in the Matrix sequels. You go through a mysterious door and are greeted with a quiet, controlled environment in which people talk a great deal and there's a lot of mystery. That's intellectually interesting, but it's not a cliffhanger. Cliffhangers are about emotion more than reason, and the ending of Episode 4 left me cold. It was, as I said, dry.

It was closer to an hour and three quarters, really. I played all four episodes in one go without taking any breaks except between episodes, I only looked at everything once, didn't loiter, and I only reloaded a scene once near the beginning because I wasn't quick enough to pick my preferred dialogue option. The fourth episode didn't feel out of place or short compared to the others at all, and while it certainly isn't perfect and felt just a tiny bit rushed at points, I'm satisfied with it.
Beauty and Beast were handled the best way to be expected from the last 2 episodes. Colin was meant to be a caring pain in the ass and he wa… mores both caring and a pain in the ass. i dont know if anyone has mentioned this, but i'm starting to suspect Snow is behind all this and the crooked man was just a scapegoat or another side of the story.
I don't have any evidence, just a hunch, that fact she just goes off and does her own thing in this episode and how she reacted when she knew you found the broken shard...
To add to my post on the previous page, ultimately, each episode should be entertaining and more or less a story on it's own while still being part of a greater story. This means each episode must have a dramatic tension, rising action, climax and resolution. Not one that only has exposition, weak rising action, and then a cliffhanger.
I paid $5 for this episode, I expect $5's worth of entertainment, not an episode that is exposition, filler and set-up so that I can be entertained 2 months later when the final episode arrives. Each episode should be entertaining on it's own.
I liked it. My only real complaints are that I did want it to be a bit longer (but this didn't stop me from enjoying the Episode itself) and that I didn't get to murder Bloody Mary (which can be attributed to the bloodlust I've slowly grown over the course of TWAU). "A Crooked Mile" is still easily my favorite Episode with "Faith" right on its heels, but I still enjoyed Episode 4 more than "Smoke and Mirrors" easily.
Seriously though, this is getting really frustrating, I personally loved the Episode but was a bit let down by the length, though
I'm sure Telltale will make up for it in Episode 5. I came here for opinions and on one hand there are chronic complainers, some of them with an
actual point, some not. On the other the hardcore Telltale defense squad, I find the latter a bit more annoying due to the fact that, without criticism, TTG won't know what the majority thinks and wants, just let people have their own opinions, both sides.
As for my actual opinion, like I said I loved it, I did dislike how it felt like everything was in fast-forward with the speed of the Episode, but the ending was a huge payoff, (Especially if you lit the cigarette, AmIrite?). I'd give it an 9.2/10, Excellent in Action and Story, lacking in Length
Man, I wanted to like this episode. I've loved every episode but this episode was just a bitter disappointment. It was short, it had no action, the story didn't move anywhere. It really does feel like TellTale has just given up on this game to work on other projects and it's disappointing because I'm enjoying this game so much, but after this episode, I really feel that TellTale has no interest in continuing this series. That's what happens when you announce two extra projects when you aren't even done with your first ones. Like others have said, the days of 2.5-3 hour episodes are behind us. This was an incredibly weak episode and I'm very disappointed in TT games for thinking this was worthy of being released. 6.5/10
Okay, just finished. Not counting the previouslies or reading the Books of Fables, I clocked in at 1 hr 23 mins. So around 85 means seems to be the average. Did you visit the Butcher or the pawn shop first?

I liked the episode fine. What people are complaining about, I just can't understand. It's on par with all the other episodes. What is different except that it's "short" and doesn't have a shock you ending. I keep seeing people saying it's weak and I just don't get it, or what people expect, except for two hour long episodes.
I think you guessed it 100%. I even kicked in the door and threatened Crooky in my last playthrough and that sure was more exciting than my earlier endings.
What are we complaining about? Oh, I don't know, maybe the fact that we paid for this and the length makes people feel like they aren't getting their money's worth? The fact that this felt like a stripped down version of the other episodes, with rarely any action, gameplay, or engaging story development? If anything, the complaints are mostly valid and shouldn't be dismissed as just "arguing". If you like an episode, it doesn't mean everyone else has to.

I thought episode 4 did the best job of progressing the theme and feel of the first episode - which im sure most of us will agree was the best in this series so far. It had some minor glitches, thats about it.
I enjoyed playing episode 4 (all 45 minutes of it or whatever it was) But to me, the game still felt rushed and phoned in. I have no problems with the games being that short, but not coming out in 10 week intervals. Thats just stupid.
I did like that characters from previous episodes came in (woodsman) and made a meaningful impacts on the story in this one instead of another meaningless cameo appearance.
Did you buy the season pass or one episode at a time? If you bought the season pass your money's worth should be decided on the season as a whole. If you're buying each episode you should wait for reviews.

I'm new to TTG so I can't even imagine so lengthy episodes! I mean, it would sure be AMAZING and I wish for the TWAU finale to be so long, but when it comes to the content, episode 4 was breathtaking (in my opinion, at least). I still can't handle it, it was so intense for me
Telltale don't care anymore they want to finish up the wolf among us and walking dead and focus on their next projects, looks like the day w… morehen episodes were 2.5-3 hrs long are over and we should exoect 1 hour episodes. This episode was the worst episode of the season, I feel very disappointed and let down by them.

That's hilarious. He was definitely an odd looking character. I loved the design.
Maybe it was a bit shorter but still, the episode was great.

The main issue is the anticlimactic ending. The episode was short and there was little payoff. What was there, was good, but it was very dry.

It's just my opinion. I respect you and your opinion, but I just simply found that their characters weren't handled quite well.

It's a lead in on what's to come. I don't see how that's not a cliffhanger. I guess it wasn't exciting enough?

It was kind of anti-climatic. Didn't require much thinking, lacked intensity. I kind of felt like I was just along for the ride.
I still enjoyed the episode, but it was definitely the worst one out of the series so far, in my opinion.
Judging by these dislikes I guess it was mostly me. :P

Tiny Tim reminded me of Flycatcher. They were both ignorant of how evil the person they are working for is. They both came across annoying to me.
