Hear Him Out, Leave, or Shut Him Up (Ep 4)

If you chose to go to the Lucky Pawn in Episode 4, you know you fight with the Jersey Devil. (I don't know if that happens if you go to the butcher first) Either way, after you stomp his head in, he gives that dark sinister speech about how nothing can be one to stop the Crooked Man. I loved the three choices that came up during that speech. You could Hear Him Out (Which I did), Leave, or Shut Him Up.

This from what I remember is the only three way decision that doesn't use speech. And I just thought it was a really cool idea and a way to express yourself.

You fight him anyway. He tells you where the shard is anyway. He holds that speech anyway. I mean, this is TTG... you should've expected that.

Anyway, I let him talk without pressing anything (same as if you hear him out), but then pressed 'Leave' right before the timer ran out. Heard everything he had to say and still loked like a badass ("I don't have to listen to this shit").

  • Well what's the butcher shop like if you go first?

  • Depends on what it's like if you go second. You meet What's-His-Face (he wasn't that memorable), follow him through the freezer, and then find a magic lab which has a (very long) list of Fables who TCM has in his debt.

Listened to the monologue and then left. I already stomped him once while he was down, so my bloodlust was satisfied. I too love the non verbal choices.

  • I did the same thing you did. I wasn't in a mood to hear his crap after having seen the lab at the Butcher's.

  • I thought I better hear him out. I was about to hit the leave option but I decided against it at the last second

  • Oh alright. If you go second the entire chalkboard is erased and the place cleared.

  • I decided to just hear him out because I thought he had enough. But I was wrong.. I should've just shut him up.

  • Same here. It was like a 2-in-1. I got to hear him out and shut him up.

  • Actually, in episode 3 you had to investigate 3 places and you could never get information from all 3 so you actually had to choose, and in episode 2 you got to interrogate Dee or the Woodsman, but not both. Plus Beauty and Beast even stated that if you go to one place first, the people at the other one might get tipped off. So it was completely rational to expect one place would hold less information and benefit to Bigby after going to the other one. It's perfectly reasonable to expect the story will be changed like that since it's happened quite a few times already. .-.

  • I heard him out because I want to hear everything.

  • I heard him out because I wanted to get as much information as I could. Plus, I already beat the shit out of him anyway!

  • Stomped that freaky fuck.

  • I chose shut him up. I did not regret it, and he deserved it.

Jack gives you the name even if you don't make the deal with him. Hell, he helps you even if you throw him out in ep. 2 and punch him every time you can in ep. 3. Flycatcher will always reveal the secret room, whether you lose your temper with him or not. Oh, also if you only go to 2 out of 3 places, guess what? You arrive late anyway.

Do you torture or persuade Dee/Woody to talk? It doesn't matter, you get information anyway.

Where did you go first in ep. 4? It doesn't matter, Crane's jacket will always be at the other place and you'll always fight Jersey.

Just because the one giving you information is Dee/Woody and Beauty/Beast, it doesn't mean the story is changing.

  • I'd rather have one linear but fleshed out story like this one instead of playing with billion decisions and missing out on 90% of the game content if I don't play it again (and I never do in that sort of games)

  • Same here, but going to the butcher shop was the better choice either way to fight jersey

I don't think it's a list of People who are in debt to TCM

They are glamour spells, for all sorts of fables. All the letters represent the raw materials used in the making of the spell. I don't know how yet, but that chalkboard seems very important.

  • As long as the game is good, I don't care if it's linear or not. Fact is, these games will never be flawless before they extend consequences beyond just "oh, you get an extra scene", or "oh, this guy now thinks you're a dick".

just to make the game feel longer

  • I left. He was just yammering dramatically to intimidate Bigby, nothing worth sticking around for.

  • I let him say everything he wanted to say, then had Bigby turn around and stomp him.

  • Shut him up. The guy deserved it, because he was basically provoking us with that whole talk.

  • Listened to most of it, but didn't want to miss an opportunity to give him a kick to the face. After what he said about Snow, and Faith and Lilly, I couldn't let him get away clean.
