Can walkers actually run?

Can anybody confirm if this is true or not, whether it be comics, games or the TV series? From the games I can remember them lunging at you, but I can't remember seeing one run.

  • No, that's why they're called walkers.

  • Walkers. Think about that.

  • This is my favourite question in the history of questions ever.

  • So, if they will run, their name will be "runners"? XD

  • Its just game over when zombies run man... You've seen The Last of Us.

  • I've heard a lot of questions.

This is my favourite question in the history of questions ever.

  • Apparently in the episode when Shane went "full Shane", the walkers were practically running after them.

  • Everytime Shane rubbed his head the zombies got a little faster.

  • There are many names for them. Geeks, lurkers, stragglers, etc. I don't think we've seen them run, but it doesn't mean it's not possible, I guess. Probably the best they could do is jog.

  • yes, i have amused the moon of my life!

    LOL

  • Really? That must have been messed up.

I guess we'll have to call them...puts on sunglasses .....The Running Dead.

They're not like 28 Days Later or Left 4 Dead zombies. Walkers are very much in the Romero-style of undead where its a person who has died and come back, but continues to rot. I don't think they're physically capable of running. Plus running is a much more complex motor function than shambling about. I don't even think their brains are up for it.

  • Well ow I was just joking ._.

  • we've seen them crawl, stagger, stumble and lurch at people but run? no that we haven't seen yet..

  • If there ever was a real zombie apocalypse the only reason I might be able to survive is because the walkers walk. If they ran I would have no chance XD

  • Well there is some things in TWD where some of the walkers were different than the rest. For example:
    spoilers for the TV show

    • After Rick kills Shane, the directors originally wanted him to reanimate while yelling "RIIIIIICK!" But people disagreed so they cut it out.

    • Morgan's wife was different from the other walkers because in Episode 1; while the rest of the horde stumbled towards the noise, Morgan's wife stopped and looked at her old house. Then, she walked up to it and looked through the peep hole, then she tried twisting the doorknob to open it. Pretty smart walker, huh? It's said that when she reanimated, an extra part of her brain came alive with the rest of the infected area,so she still had some thoughts and sense in her, even after she turned. But she still bit Duane like any other walker would.

Sooooooo, I wouldn't be surprised if they did show a running walker of some kind. There's a lot of walkers that were different in the TV show. It would be cool, honestly :P

  • So if an Olympic sprinter became a walker that could possibly be the result. That would be scary as fvck to have a walker running really fast.

  • In the show's S1 episode called Guts, you see walkers running and able to climb over a fence, but after that you mainly see them walking.

  • Not really but I saw one skipping once.

  • I remember walkers being able to get objects and use them in the TV Show. I think they scrapped the idea of zombies/ walkers recollecting memories and the usage of items. I'm not sure if what I'm saying is right and it's probably BS.
