Headcanons Thread

I haven't really seen this kind of thing yet, but I love discussing/seeing other people's headcanons, so I thought it'd be cool to start up.

For those of you who don't know, this is what a headcanon is, as defined by Urban Dictionary:

An idea, belief, or aspect of a story that is not mentioned in the media itself, but is accepted by either the reader themselves or the fandom in general. If it is confirmed by the author of the story, it becomes canon.

You can discuss just about anything! Be it your theory on how the apocalypse began, how you believe Kenny survived, or what you think your favorite character's preferred cereal is, this is the thread it share it. Extra kudos if you have canon evidence to back your headcanon up, but since they're just personal headcanons, it's perfectly fine if you don't.

  • The St.Johns had several cows before the apocalypse. They would slowly disappear one by one, Brenda thought that she must have left the barn doors open. By the time the ZA started, there were two cows; Maybelle and Lucy. In the 5th day of the ZA, Andy was powering the generator so he heard rumbling going on in the barn. He opened the door to see Maybelle eating Lucy. He than left the barn saying "Good girl Maybelle, I taught you well!".

That story explains why Maybelle is the only cow left in the Walking dead, she followed the foot steps of the St. Johns and became a cannibal herself.

  • Christa and Omid were robbed by another group before they met Lee's.

  • Some time before the apocalypse, Pete was a member of the military (him saying FUBAR in Episode 1 makes me think that).

  • If Danny is spared, he closes the barn door to protect Maybelle from the walkers. He then escapes the bear trap through the power of his want to protect Maybelle, the only person he has left and goes on a Lee-esque quest of redemption with Maybelle. If Danny is not spared, Maybelle closes the barn door herself so she won't get eaten by walkers. She later has an amazing quest of her own. Either way, Maybelle lives.

Clementine chose to save Nick because she didn't like Pete's story as it involved an animal getting shot. She chose not to tell anyone that he got bit as she had got the impression that they'd be douchey enough to say something like "are you sure it wasn't a DOG!?"

  • Actually, considering his age, he was probably in Nam. Assuming he was around 13-16 in 1963, when he says he first started smoking, he'd be the perfect draft age by the time the Viet Nam war rolled around.

Alvin was a professor of some sorts. All the teachers die :'(

Walter and Matthew made all their old friends jealous because they had a perfect relationship, despite the age gap.

Jane was a broke college student. Magic Mike lol

Nick and Luke tried to sell alcohol... OR buy and flip houses. I read the latter in a fic once.

  • [Dies]

    "Oh, shit.."

He was probably a headset spammer too. "Hah, fuck you motherfucker!"

  • Clem actually did love her treehouse. She just said she hated it to make Luke feel bad for constantly asking her to do things.

  • Troy was a convicted Peadophile.

" Everything come out alright, Girls? "

  • uncle pete found nick's porn stash back then

  • I think that Carver probably had a loving family before the apocalypse but it died.

  • What I use for stories:

Lilly's mother didn't know she was pregnant with Lilly until she was in labor.

Omid's mom used to make him wear a bag on his head when they got into fights.

Chuck lived with a group of homeless runaways - Reggie (not the same Reggie), Twig (she was very thin, so it became her nickname), Charlie (they can't have two Charlie's, so he went by Chuck), Ron, Stanley, Brenna (suicidal runaway), and Emma (who was the girl Chuck refers to while talking about a dead little girl. She was 13.) They all were a big family, but Twig and Emma caught Cholera from Reggie, all three of them died, Ron got into a fight and died from his injuries, Charlie and Brenna both committed suicide, and Stanley got hit by a car. Whoo. Long one.

I have always had this weird headcannon that Christa was adopted. I dunno why. Also, her dad was a military man in San Fran, who died during 9/11 (he was visiting a friend in one if the twin towers.

Larry once got called "Larry the Lobster" and asked Lilly what it meant. Lilly really didn't want to tell him.

Katjaa once took a trip to Hungary, went to a festival, got drunk, and woke up in a barn with no recollection of how she got there.

Lilly licked a burning candle on a dare when she was five.

    Okay, that's enough for now.

  • Ben was useful.

-Clementine hates her treehouse because she fell out of it once and hurt herself. But the main reason she doesn't like them anymore is because after the zombie outbreak started, she had to hear and see a lot of horrible things while hiding up there, like her neighbours getting attacked by walkers, gunshots and screaming, to seeing the dead walking around in the woods out back the fence. Most of it kept her awake those nights while praying her parents came home who she kept calling on her walkie talkie to come get her. The treehouse saved her life, but she can't bring herself to go up one again in the near future unless she really has to.

Oh but she still loves chocolate. She really loves chocolate.

-Lee would've been an awesome daddy!

    Alt text

He really wanted to teach Clementine how to ride a bike...

-Sarita was once with another group who were all killed off, leaving her as the last survivor. She and Kenny met by accident, because she got into a jam with some walkers after she ran out of ammo, and he let her into the restaurant he was staying in and saved her life as a result. Kenny was distant towards her in the beginning and didn't say much, but he soon warmed up to her and the two got talking, and the rest was peaches and beans.

-Kenny was a pirate in a past lifetime. He dreams of boats. Boats are his dream.

After what happen to Lee, he feels it’s his responsibility to look out for Clementine, and why he’s so protective of her, especially in being with this new group. Not just that, but part of him too just wants that family life rebuilt again that he lost after Kat and Duck died, and having Clementine there along with Sarita would make him feel complete again and have something worth living for.

-Nick tried to kill himself once while growing up because of issues over his dad, a man who was a real asshole and later abandoned him and his mother for good. Despite only being young and it not being his fault, he really blamed himself for it, and that's why Luke looks out for him as much as he does.

He’s also a softie at heart, although he doesn’t like to admit it. He is. Plus Nick always knows where the fucking river is, making him an invaluable asset to the team in finding water, and who shouldn’t under ANY circumstances be killed off.

-Luke’s folks died during the first days of the dead walking and he wasn’t able to save them, something he blames himself over for either indirectly putting them in danger or it being something he couldn’t prevent. It’s why he looks out everybody like does to make up for that.
One thing though is Luke can’t wrap his head around why Clementine keeps beating him at poker. He thinks she’s cheating, she must be. Oh and him and Nick have also in the past gotten mistaken for being gay, despite only being best friends. Luke wonders if it’s because of his hair that people get that impression.

Luke’s pretty sure it’s his hair.

-The reason Carlos is so protective of Sarah is because he lost his wife while their girl was still very young. Being a doctor this hit him especially hard because it’s his job to treat people, and failing to protect his wife caused him to be the way he is with Sarah now, who he’s afraid to lose too and who looks so much like her mother.

So protective is Carlos, he used to give the death glare to any boy that even so much as went and said hello to his daughter on dropping her off at school. He is also frequently known to give the death glare to any in the group who dare tell him how to do his group.

-Sarah really wants to make a friendship bracelet for Clementine, but doesn’t have any beads and stuff to do so. She also thinks Luke is super cool, and offered to sew up the hole on his orange sweater once like she did for the loose button on Alvin’s coat, but her daddy gave her the scariest death glare ever and told her to go to room, and after that she never asked again.

Her daddy really scares her sometimes, but he gives warm hugs and says sorry so that's okay.

-On the fifth day after leaving the cabin, so hungry was Alvin, he thought about roasting Nick on an open fire when nobody was watching. But when he’s not thinking about eating Nick, he loves karaoke and singing a tune every once and a while. He had dreams to become a singer when he was a boy, but he was never really all that good with it, although Rebecca did enjoy joining in for a duet with him at the bar.
But seriously he’d prefer cooking Nick more than singing any day.

-Rebecca had a nightmare of Clementine going all kung fu on her ass after their little chat in the cabin, and that’s why she apologises afterwards for treating the girl so harshly…because she fears the wrath of the Cleminator.

She wants a decent future for her baby girl [that’s she’s hoping is a girl] given she didn’t have a good upbringing herself growing up. And with the dead walking she believes having the Cleminator around to protect her little girl would be the best thing. And Rebecca loves muffins, she misses eating muffins and drinking coffee.

-Walter and Matthew used to love watching Disney films together, that if Frozen had been around during that time, they sure as hell would've been singing 'Let it go' while making breakfast.

-Pete was so hard on Nick as a kid because he saw he was a pansy and needed to grow a back bone. After shooting Bambi's mother, the way Pete got Nick talking again was to take him fishing, but it was only becuse Pete accidently fell in the river on hooking a fish and it caused his sulky nephew to burst out laughing.

  • Chuck's mother was pregnant and going to have a girl, the intitial name being "Savannah" however his mother comitted suicide due to an abusive husband and Chuck later was kicked out. He was intelligent and cultured because he had a homeless friend who taught him many things to do with history, politics, religion, etc. (Their favourite poem being Meditation 17 by John Donne - "For whom the bell tolls, the bell tolls for thee")

Chucks friend died during the winter, and soon the apocalypse started. So he locked himself in the train, the only reason he's good with a shovel is because he was interested in gardening during high-school (though he was a dropout) and the only reason he has a map leading to Savannah is because it reminds him of the only thing he misses. Home.

  • I was thinking Vietnam as well. It also leads into another little headcanon of mine that Pete was drawing on his military experiences while helping his sister to raise Nick in order to toughen him up, raising him as a "soldier," if you will, which is what results in Nick's relatively hostile attitude toward him while he was alive. Nick failed to meet Pete's high standards and resented him for it, but deep down always wanted to please the closest thing to a father he had.

  • I know I'm OP but I'm gonna post some of my own because I have quite a few.

Sarita was a cultural anthropologist, her area of focus being religion. She's Hindu herself, but always found different religions so fascinating and thought it was really beautiful how different people could all have different beliefs. That's how she knows so much about Christmas and knows the lyrics to Good King Wenceslas despite being non-Christian.

Matthew was a writer, which is why he was collecting literature. He, Sarita, and Walter (the teacher) all had very philosphical and intellectual discussions during dinner while Kenny just sat there like, "Haha how about that sea bass huh?" But he learned a lot from them--and in turn he taught them a lot, too.

Nick and Luke's "business" was actually a pyramid scheme they got roped into by Justin from 400 Days.

Nick was always really tall, and even when he was a kid he towered over his peers. He was very self-conscious of his height and teased a bit for it, so he'd hunch to try and make himself smaller. His poor posture is permanent now, and it's led to a mild case of scoliosis (which he hadn't even known about until Carlos pointed it out).

Sarah was a Doctor Who fan.

Russell doesn't just have his name on his backpack--it's written on the tags of his shirts and his underwear, too. He likes labels, he likes organization, he likes to keep things neat.

Troy was the type of kid who'd tattle on someone for using the word "butt" in gym class and then celebrate their resulting punishment by getting way too intense over kickball.

  • Hahahahaha! "Luke's pretty sure it's his hair."

All the characters in the Walking Dead heard or knew from each other in some way or another. Here's a few that I made.

    • Carlos was watching TV one night whilst Sarah was in the living room reading a book, when they heard a news report conducted by Carley about Lee Everetts arrest after shortly murdering the senator. Sarah would remark how "That's horrible!" as she watched the news report.

    • Shel (from 400 Days) passed Chuck whilst he was homeless and feeling pity for him, paid him some money as she passed him in the street, Becca would comment how it would be a waste of money.

    • Christa and Omid would always go on road-trips, and one time as they were heading into town they drove past Clementines school whilst children were playing on the playground (including Clementine) as Omid and Christa would discuss raising a child soon.

    • Uncle Pete would take Nick out during a "hunting trip" to get away from their home, more importantly Nick's father. They once went to a diner. This same diner would have Matthew and Walter eat at the same time, at a table nearby where they would both talk about Steinbecks books.

    • Whilst Kenny, Katjaa and Duck were visiting Katjaas sister, Katjaa's sister had a friend around the house. Later as the apocalypse begun Katjaa's sister and this friend moved around and survived for a while however the friend was bitten, Katjaa's sister (being a nurse rather than vet like Kajtaa) amputated her friend. This "friend" is Pete's cousin who he mentions amputated their arm and the bite didn't turn them into a walker.

    • Alvin and Rebecca knew the Stranger and his family as acquaintances after they had all met together at a party.

    • Nate and his friend would regularly attend bars and drink together as best friends. Occasionally they would go to the same bar, this same bar was frequented by Eddie and Wyatt at one point or another before they were banned for Eddies idiotic actions.

    • Kenny remarks how he had a dog in his family that was "put down", when he and his family were looking for a dog, that pet store also had "Sam" the same dog that bit Clementine for sale as a puppy. Kenny considered it but bought the other one due to Duck preferring the other dog. Another family bought "Sam" and then moved to North Carolina with Sam, until they would die during the apocalypse. Sam would be left behind and eventually find Clementine.

    • Jeffrey Grimes (Rick Grimes brother and yes that is canon) was a cop but decided to work in Atlanta unlike Rick. It was Jeffrey and his fellow partners alongside a squad of cops who arrested Lee Everett.
