Why doesn't shop remember your address etc?

Most online shops remember your shipping address and credit card information, is there a specific reason that one needs to retype all every time when ordering?

If not, perhaps something to develop with the site code? :)

Since I don't see this site protected by VeriSign or another security-guarantee, I am far more comfortable thinking things like addresses and CC #s are not kept in an online-accessible database.

I would rather that TT ask me for postage for their "pre-order bonus package" so I have the option of refusal. If my CC were still accessible to them, they would auto-charge me for something I might not want (to take advantage of). I'm much happier retyping these pieces of personal information, rather than wonder about the security issues with them being stored here.

This is not true, they have SSL/TLS certificate from https://www.thawte.com/. Verisign is just one provider, even if probably the most widely known (and probably most expensive one too). If site wasn't protected, your data would be equally vulnerable when you submit it in the first place.

However, since your account is linked with forum account. Extra sign for the shop would be welcomed if the information was shown.

If I was incorrect, I apologize. Some say that you shouldn't shoe up on Horse before entering the internets but I never held to that, I never saw a legitimate security host on this site to convince that my CC info was secure, I swear. If there is such an entity securing this site, then I cannot imagine why I am prevented from changing my mailing address or CC info, which I have already attempted but found them in no way changible. I assumed, based on this fact, that such info was disregarded after initial purchase. IF MY CC INFO IS AVAILABLE TO TELLTALE STAFF, THEN I REQUEST IT BE DELETED BEFORE YOU SURPRISE ME WITH POSTAL CHARGES FOR A DVD AND STEVE PUCELL ARTWORK, which I do not, nor ever wanted..

I understand how such trivialities satisfy the fanatics but I truly want no part of it. TT must realize that MOST purchasers or ToMI are NOT fanatics but normal, reasonable, rational users, in no way concerned about SP artwork, nor a DVD copy of this game. I can burn these games on my own blank DVD at a cheaper rate than postage

In short, if TT bills my CC for postage without consulting me first, I will accept it without criminal charges, since it was part of the "bonus for pre-order" . But I will forever pirate all future TT games in protest for charging my CC without first consulting me .

This is the folly of keeping CC info pertinent ... and TT knows that. If they play SHENANIGANS, so can I and at a greater folly to the company. MY original position stands, until refuted by an official TT representative

Correct, we don't store your credit card or billing information.

As far as I know, the reason for that is because it would mean a lot more assumed risk and liability, which we're not set up to support right now. Maybe at some point we will build that functionality and extra required security into our store system, but for now the actual financial transaction stuff is fully handled by an outside company.

Also, if we ever started storing credit card information, we would absolutely not "auto-charge" for something you did not wish to buy. I've never heard of iTunes or Amazon just suddenly purchasing albums for you, or Steam buying games in the middle of the night that you didn't order. We would be no different -- storing credit cards is only done so you can speed up the checkout process. I don't see why anyone would expect an online store to commit theft in such a way. Is there precedence for such a worry?

Just a comment here, I've dealt with Telltale for a long time and they've never given reason to question their practices. All things like DVDs after you purchased the season have shown up as separate purchases you had to make to cover the shipping. They have never tried any funny business like that.

Personally I am not aware of any such case, but of course there are scam websites which is of course entirely different matter. If address would be stored, seperate login when paying would probably be good. A bit like Amazon does it.

However, I have to compliment Telltale current store being very user friendly in every other aspect. I really think it is easy to use and navigating does work really well. The initial Digital river thing (when shopping was at different domain) had some hicups, but current one is really fluent and very well integrated to the site.
